Bike suggestions...

Yes, I apologise but it's another what bike thread.

I have in the region of £4000 [stretching myself to £4500-ish] to spend. I was looking at getting a BMW F800s but my budget won't go that far. I've also been looking at at the new shape Fazer 600's but don't really know what to go for.

I would prefer a non-sportsbike as I've had an RS and a Gixxer and I'm going touring around Europe in the summer, so want something that is a bit more comfortable. Something cheap to insure would be an added bonus as I've lost all my no claims bonus.

Suggestions...?

Just got myself an BMW r1200gs after riding sportsbikes all my biking life.
Loving every minute of it..It's a do it all sort of bike.

How about an BMW r1150gs for the money you are thinking of spending?

Honda Transalp? Honda Africa Twin? Honda Varadero?

For £4000 you could get a nice Africa twin, they aren't bad bikes, getting old but look the best out of those three. Try xrv.org.uk if your interested in them. I was on a ride out with a guy who got the sump guard down on his Africa twin.

If you like the idea of the F800, why not go for a high-spec F650?

Or buy a cheap, basic one then throw half the touratech catalogue at it.
