Well basically i had come off a roundabout and was pulling into a bus stop too stop and i had slowed down to about 10MPH and started verge left into the bus stop but the road paving was uneven and my wheel couldn't hack it and my bike feel down sidewards with me on it

I kind of felt like an idiot and didn't seem to have any injuries

While i was on the ground i was thinking, NOOOOOOOO my bike

I lifted up my bike with ease, which i normally cannot do and assessed the damage, minor scrape to the handle bar and the mirror seems bent out of shape (seems) so there is virtually no damage.

I was only 2 minutes from my house so i rolled it too my house and when i got home i saw my injuries.

Ripped jeans, scrapped elbow and knee, minor cut to the hip, within 5 minutes i was back on my bike.

This has seriously pissed me off because it was avoidable and its not the first time uneven roads have nearly made me crash

Glad you controlled your crash enough not to get hurt. There are bad roads and there will be ice, you need to learn to judge conditions and you will crash less.

Yeh i am just glad i wasn't going fast or else i would have flown over my handlebars instead of falling sidewards

but this puts me of filtering because there are loads of roads which are uneven at the sides

Filtering is the most stupid and un-pleasurable thing to do on a motorcycle. We all do it and it is horrible.

You were peeling off to the left, why would that put you off filtering ???
Which should always be done on the off side of cars....

While you will encounter a lot of crap on the roads in hatched area's generally the centre of the road is pretty smooth due to mot being used much Smile

But i have found it a good idea to look at the state of car windows on these frosty morns and take a lot more care filtering passed cars that have frossted up windows... Twisted Evil

Seems like more of a reason to filter as you do it down the middle of the road and not the sides. Only pushbikes filter at the side of the road. Shocked

Glad you're okay, but bus stops and the like are nearly always littered with crap and diesel, I tend to avoid them like the plague and treat them as I would if a bus were waiting there.

some roads require me to filter to the side nearest to the kerb because of on comming traffic on the opposite side

A few of the roads round here have seams in the tarmac that makes filtering truely hellish. And thats without getting started on deathtraps like the A386 Confused

Just ride smooth and don't rush it Thumbs Up

Unless you are filtering to turn left, i would avoid filering up the nearside of any cars...
Far to easy for a passenger to open a door.
Also drivers do not expect people to be on their inside, so may not check if making a left turn...

Better to wait for gaps and keep to the offside of the traffic.

Then you wait until it is clear, as said above if you don't its just a matter of time until your in A&E. Plus if the Police see you doing that you may get a tug for dangerous driving. Not all of them like it.

Doesn't most filtering mean you have oncoming cars on the other side of the road?
