A friend asked me, "do you know what is concidered enough money to live on in this country?"

It's for an essay and she can't find anything about it anywhere.

It's to do with 'financial viabilities'.

Do any of you know anything about it, If so can you please help.

Thanks

Hi

Would greatly depend on the area of the country. Just about every expense relates to this.

Average pay is something like £25k.

All the best

Lots of different perceptions from this question, "enough to live on"
is basically a lot less than what you would get in benefits if you were unemployed. What exactly do you mean "enough to live on"

There are a small number earning one hell of a lot higher than that, which somewhat distorts the average.

Outside London an IT graduate going into IT will get £16k~£18k, rising to a bit over £20k after a year or 2.

All the best

Well a couple of people I know fall in to the bracket where their benifits are 'enought to live on' and it isnt worth them getting a job as they would work out as being on less.

When I say 'enough to live on' I mean no big frills - basics with the odd 'treat'.

However when I was on benifits many years ago for a couple of weeks with no children, no house, no loans I got £30 a week which was no way enouth to live on!!
