Right chaps.

Im looking to buy my first bike, now that the DAS is over and done.

I went to a shop today to look at a couple of Suzuki's they have.

exhibit A - GSR 600 in Black and Silver - Some wear 5000 miles on the clock, starting price £4195 although stated this was their first offer to me.

exhibit B - Bandit 650 in Black - Brand new £4299 with the offer of 0%.

exhibit C - Bandit 650 in what ever colour second hand - around £1750-2000

What I'm looking for is primarily a commuter bike around the 600cc mark, but having experienced some of the thrills of country roads, I will be looking forward to summer riding at the weekends.

Financially I dont have that kind of money lying around so it would have to be either a load with my bank or through the suzuki dealers.

Obviously this is looking at Suzuki but if you think there is a bike I have overlooked and it would be a crime not to investigate please let me know.

Your help as always would be greatfully received.

Kind regards

stan

I would be looking at the Hornets as well as they have better build quality than the Suzuki. Also worth a gander at the Yamaha range.

Early Hornet/Fazer around £1500 would be my choice.

Or a CB1 for half of that.

B would be very tempting, depending on how long the 0% is and wether you can afford it. Down side is new bike just as its getting a bit iffy on the roads.

I think best bet would be a cheap 600 to tide you over till weather gets much better then look at getting something newer.

Maybe even something like a translap, would make these slippery days more fun, as they have a far better riding position, to help recovery when wheels decide that want to step out of line. Thumbs Up

I'd get an older bike first, at least for 6 months. Probably wouldn't get it from a dealer either, pay over the odds. Get some experience on an older bike first. As stated, Honda Hornets are a good choice, they hold their price quite well. Actually, you may like it so much you'll keep it longer than 6 months.

I would suggest C, you may well drop your first bike so its better to drop something cheap than something expensive, ride it for a year then get out and see what takes your fancy, plus you will find that if you havent dropped it you will probably get back what you paid for it.
