Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help with diagnosing if theres a problem or anything to worry about with my nc30.

Basically i found today on the way into work after riding about 8 miles from my house and straight down a motorway at a slow speed that when i rolled to a stop, the engine cut out. I restarted it and it did the same so i found myself having to clutch in and rev as i slowed right to a stop. Once stopped i slip the choke on for the engine to keep ticking over. The engine temp was showing about 50degrees C. I then hammered the bike through salford and the temp went up to its usual 90 and the problem seemed to go away... Just wondering if it could just be the freezing temperatures we are having recently causing it or possibly something worse... Ive recently changed the oil and filter for the bike and it did this another day last week when it was freezing too.

Cheers!

Sounds like just a weather issue.

It's probably justy the cold weather.

My Zeph was the same on Sunday, it started on choke no prob and seemed to be ok at first with the choke off but as I was slowing down (usually at traffic lights) if I came right off the throttle it just died on me. Did it about 3 times, if I forgot to just keep the throttle very slightly pinned when slowing down (there's an art to this, my 250 used to do it too so I got quite adept at the not-quite-all-the-way-off throttle thing). I also noticed that the idle speed was well down, it was trying to idle at about 800 whereas normal cold idle is around 11-1200 and hot idle is about 1500.

I fixed it by turning my idle screw up a notch........ by the time I'd run down the M56 to Stockport it was fine. Hot tickover was only up slightly, and depsite a stop to get ready, a 10mph toy run then a slow-ish run back to the motorway with a brew stop it was fine all the way home too.

Himself says it's to do with the very cold air making a slightly different mixture to warmer air, and the engine not warming up as fast compounds it.

Try turning the idle up just a touch whilst it's this cold, it might help.

Raise the idle speed a little bit to give the engine a bit more of a safety zone and I'd guess it'd be fine.

Alternatively just hold the throttle open a bit as you do this.
