Hi guys i was pissing around with my scooters carburetta (adjusting the fuel and air intake by turning the screw thing) The main aim was to increase the revs so it wouldnt cut out at traffic lights!

Anyway my dad knows fuck all so now the scooter splutters loads and is unridable. I tried to put the screw back to the right amount of twists but it didnt work, and now i think the engines flooded!

Can someone please give me some advice.

thanks in advance

Crash it and claim off insurance then get an NSR....well you might get a nose cone with the insurance, you will have to find the rest of the cash from somewhere else

its an italjet dragster 50cc (2001)

Like i said i adjusted the carb settings (should be the same on all scootes/bikes i was told)

anyway ive tried putting it back to original setting but the engine still sputters for about 10 seconds after starting and then it just dies!

Experiment with the screw... There should be two, the larger one is usually the idle setting, somewhere in your manual it should have the number of turns for the default setting.

the idle screw should be about 2 turns out from the seating. if that fails, ask a bike mechanic. He will laugh at you for a while and then tell you how to fix the scoot.

thats for all your advice Smile

it turns out that there is nothing wrong with the carb... All the stopping and starting of the engine has damaged the spark plug! So im getting a new one fitted tomorrow.

Turns out the screw i was turning was just a bolt that held the air pipe thingy onto the carb Embarassed Im learning slowly! (i hope)

cheers

I do like the racing blue Smile and the stickers make it look wicked. I have a mate with one like yours. I see you have the same problem as me with the annoying bottom half of the exhaust rusting. I have sorted it now though (applied this stuff called crust that made the rust disappear!)

Anyway i will be finding out tomorrow if the spark plug works a mechanic person is coming to look at it.

I have had about 52MHP out of it but thats down hill! On the flat it does between 45 and 50. It does annoy me and I cant wait to get a bigger bike! (only two months now)

I think about 50MPH is standard for the italjet dragster, its fully derestricted but im sure it could be tunned to get a bit more speed! I got mine for 1200 pounds brand new (600 quid cheaper than usual) so thats basically why i got it.

I like your michelin tyres by the way, did they come with it standard or did you replace the others? The wheels on mine are silver, looks nice in black though.

I forgot to ask how fast does yours go?

cheers

60MPH 70MPH mate? you planning on having it pulled out to a 70cc?

I think the fastest 50cc I have came across is my mates Aprillia RX50 (very nice scrambler) he gets about 65MPH out of that and its all standard.

I love the indicators on your Prillia mate! i was thinking about getting mine inverted (so that the bulb is orange and the cover is clear) Shame that the italjet doesnt come like that, it would look cool!

cheers

Those are the tyres that came on it, but I coloured in the Michelin by myself (Dont tell anyone, it looks cool!)

Mine does about 45mph on straights, but i havent taken out the pulley spacer so it still has more to go. No point now though! dont use the thing

I reckon if you did get your scooter up to 70 you'd still insist on waering a normal jacket? No cowhide or CE armour in sight? And JEANS!!!
Don't care what you're riding, come off at 70 and it's gonna be messy Twisted Evil
I'd love to see the pedders in leathers.... LOL
