I'm currently sporting a huge amount of hair as many of the Bolton lot will tell you and I'm loathed to cut it.

With ALL my hair I fit a nitro XXL64 quite nicely, with it shawn off I fit either a large/medium shark. And the nitro XXL64 is absolutely massive on me head you can tell cus the eye line is different with tons of hair and less hair.

The Shark S-800 I ruined a couple months back when I hit the ground.

Now I'm looking at buying another helmet , do I?:

#1 buy a helmet for my head size + hair, which means if I suddenly decide to cut me hair (which I do) it will be too big, Confused

#2 buy the same size shark as I bought last year just cramming it in? (my hair was fairly long when I ruined the shark and it was a fairly tight fit but didn't cause anything like headaches or anything and was worn for 6+ hours sometimes more). But of course the shark had a year to mold into the shape of me head.

To add to the confusion I'm thinking of cutting/thinning out the front and keeping the long bits at the back.

Any thoughts?

Ta.

What do you do with the hair in the helmet? Confused

If you are braiding or ponytailing it below helmet level to stop it blowing about and keep it quite sleek on top I can't see it would make that much difference.

I would say buy the one that fits you now. If you do decide to go for the chop later you can always pad out the interior with a buff, bandana, wooly hat etc............

it does make a difference a helluva difference , thing is its thick all over , I went into HG one day with hair a bit shorter than it is now and no helmet would fit me, I go back the next day with an all over number 2, and suddenly large Nolans and Xlites start to fit me...

Dude just get your hair thinned out, you can keep the length but take some of the weight out of it. You've got the same hair as me and when i go through my "lets try to grow my hair long phases" i just go get that done because it ends up really bushy and thick (think jackie chan in the 80's). Or just cram your head into the shark.

Same issue with my hair here and I've had my hair pretty long at times Shocked

Get it thinned out at a decent hair dressers, it makes it so much more manageable and less of a pain to dry too, and if you do have it cut short it won't make much of a difference with your lid.

You should get it cut, maybe then you could change your name Mr. Green

I'm just jealous, although I never suffer from helmet hair.

Cheers

Ive got fairly long hair...dont meet many girls with longer hair.

But luckily mines quite fine hair, so I just tie it into a pony tail and helmets fit me fine (Ive got a suomy small).

Though I know of a guy round the Coventry area, hes got dreadlocks down to his waist...had to try fitting a helmet on him when I worked in a bike shop...it was a smegging nightmare.

Make your mind up now whether your cutting your hair or not then go get a helmet based on that descision.

Whatever you do, dont cut it on the top and leave it long at the back, mullets look really queer and should only ever be seen on pikeys and gypsies.

Don't cut your hair. I wear a Small sized Nitro and I haven't cut my hair for over a year.
You will find a helmet that fits you and your hair.
