i enjoyed the hamster meets evel thing

i particularly liked the modern day jump on a 2 stroke crosser

evel was an amateur in comparison

watching the old stuff made you realise that his landing ramp was all wrong and if he had used a steep dirt landing ramp with no flat bit, he would have been far better off

what they didnt mention in the show was that it was smoking that killed him, not bike injuries.

i thought he was a bit up himself to be honest, really destroyed my image of him! im too young to have lived through his era but i cant help but think he was only famous for falling off all the time! but thats just my view, and i understand that he is an idol to a lot of people!

Knievel was pure white trash, he always was. You can take the boy out of the trailer park but you can not take the trailer park out of the boy. He got above himself with his political rants and his God bothering , as Colin says it was fags that killed him not bikes.
None of the above is relevant to him as a rider, he did fall off a lot but the remarkable thing is that he kept getting back on.

How much travel did the crosser have compared to evel's bike though?

I watched a program on him a while back , and they came to the conclusion that the reason most of his jumps went tits up was because he was using the wrong type of bike for them, his bike was to heavy, didn't have enough suspension and had a tenancy to bounce and skitter upon landing due to this.

He just came across as such a tosser. A good advert for never meeting your heroes.

I never knew he took a baseball bat to the bloke who wrote an article about him either.

Hence the crash at Wembley, it was stated that the bike had NO suspension.....
May be a bit thick, but i would say you need some form of suspension when landing from such a height, unless the ramp is built in such a way that its at the same angle as the bike when landing.
The guy had guts no doubt on that score, well that was untill it came to answering some of Hammy questions and then it was CUT.... Crying or Very sad

Sad really as the program has made him look a right twat. Shocked

He had suspension at Wembley, what he did not have was damping. I am not sure if he jumped without damping or it burst on impact with the landing ramp. What he also lacked on that jump was sufficient speed, that is why he hit the edge of the ramp.
