As per the subject.

I've bought myself one, seems pretty decent. Does the fast charging/ trickle charging/ recovery malarky all automatically like the Optimates.

Balls - I even did a search for the word Aldi!

Still, take this as a reminder that they're in the shops now. Wink

P.S. Thanks for not being a knob about 'resposts'!

Couldn't care less about the repost, it was a good reminder. The pointer to the other thread was only to pass on the spec. You tried it yet? Might get one tomorrow if it looks ok.

Yeah I've got it on my battery at the moment, the light comes on to say it's charging, so hopefully it's working!

Trust me Rolling Eyes

I brought one today. First bike I tried had a completely dead battery but that's OK, the charger has a recovery mode. Charger refuses to stay on for more than 90 seconds.
Try my optimate on the same battery, no problem.
Try another battery, auto detects at 6V, its not, and says its charged despite it being on a shelf for 6 months. Connect it to a fully charged battery, and it tells me its fully charged Rolling Eyes
I'll exchange for another tomorrow. Not looking good though.

Anyone tried theirs with a discharged battery?

The only place for a fully discharged battery is the bin, they never recover properly.

However, in the interests of science (brainiacs style), and as I bought one today as well, I have it on a dead car battery as I speak.

I will report back tomorrow but I don't hold out much help!

Never had a problem with my optimate or oximiser. The point is it says that it can recover a fully discharged battery. The bike I tried hadn't been used for two months. The Aldi one just kept turning off. Optimate is charging it fine.

i read the manual about 5mins ago, that's a good few hours after i put my battery on the charger lol

but i seen this.

the appliance is protected against improper use. If there is a short circuit between the terminals with the result that the power circuit is not closed (the terminals are not fixed correctly) or if the battery voltage falls below 7.5v the appliance remains in standby mode

The battery might be well and totally screwed, and possibly a bad idea to use it.

Im a n00b though, and i might not be right.

Hope it helps.

No mate, its exactally the bit that I'm struggling with.

The previous paragraph mentions regenerate/recharge mode, which it starts until the battery can be charged using one of the normal modes. It even says 'attach the fully discharged battery'.

Even on the 6V charging it states that it only charges up to 7.3v ermm that's less than 7.5 isn't it?

Like I said, my old optimate is charging the battery like a good 'un.
