I recieved a 1/12th scale model of my bike for xmas, its one of those airfix things that comes in every small individual part - made by tamiya.

The question is what glue do i need and any other little tools that will make it easier and come out perfect?

Domo Arigato.

a scalpel or even better wire snips to take the parts off the runners, sand paper to remove the left over of the runners.

You also need a sticky clear stuff called cement superglue works but cement is more forgiving if you stick it wrong since cement takes minutes to dry not seconds.

You will need primer and probably an airbrush to get non paint brush brisel strokes.

You need contact cement, its special glue which basically melts the two pieces of plastic together, you will want some snips, craft knife, small file for cutting the pieces out and finishing off any rough bits. you'll want some elastic bands and cloths pegs etc to hold bits together while they dry. get a good brush and paints, and have some white spirits ready in a glass to clean your brush. scissors to cut out the stickers, and a saucer of water to float the sticker off the paper, and then use a clean brush to wet the model, and slide the sticker on, then press out the water with a tissue once its in position. most important thing is take your time. Thumbs Up

I have done a couple of them in the past, I used a contact cement and I had to paint mine myself, paint works out about £4 a pot, expensive if you have a model with a lot of colours on it. I also used a scalpel to cut out the bits and a clamp, (a crocodile clip on a stand, about £5), is handy for holding the model while you stick bits to it

If there is any decals to go on make sure you follow the instructions. I made the mistake of building a F1 car without putting the decals on things such as the steering wheel, which I couldn't fit my fingers in to put them on Embarassed

It ended up being thrown out my window as I like destruction Cool

Airfix Glue... Shocked

Polystyrene Cement is what you need.
The parts are more WELDED together than GLUED.

Contact Cement is stuff that bonds on contact.
Evostick is one. This employs a layer of adhesive which has a solvent which dries and thus forms a bond.
Polystyrene Cement disolves the edges of the parts to be joined.

Enjoy.... Laughing
Sad sadistic bastart wot bot you that for Christmas Crying or Very sad Laughing

I've done 4 so far, I got a 916 first, then an RC30, followed by an OW01 and a YZFR1. I keep meaning to do more but never get round to it. They are quite time consuming it you want to do them properly.

You will get your 'Haw-Maws' squeezed if your missus knows you call her beautifully manicured nails, "horrible lumpy edges." Doh!
