Varta Batteries

Been looking all day for batteries for my DRz only to find that its an obscure battery and they had a Yuasa one for £75!!!!!!.
Now i knew i could get it cheaper online, had a quick look online and found one for £55, but also a VARTA for £40.

Are they as respected as Yuasa, its gotta turn over a pretty high compression single, i can bump a TL1000R, but i cant bump this drz, so a good battery is important.

In the car world they are pretty well respected, I've got a diddy one on my escort and that cranks over a 2.0 pinto lump.

Like has been said. Varta are good battery brand for cars, i'd expect them to be just as good with bikes.

Nah i mean not alot of people stock DRz batteries as its quite a rare size and believe me after driving round 5 different shops today.

Think ill probably go the Varta, just didnt want it to be a pants budget one.

Varta are one of the best makes of battery!
They are highly respected and are OEM Suppliers to alot of manufacturers!

Plus they're German so you can't go wrong.

For a big twin or single you should go for glass mat type like Hawker they will blow the competition away without a struggle. Not much more that a Varta either but much, MUCH better......

lol heres me thinking a battery is just a battery, does a better make or quality battery actually crank out more power over a cheaper model ?

Hi

Few different makes vary in quality. Had Yuasa batteries and they have lasted well. Had Sprint batteries that last a couple of months. Varta also have a very good reputation, and I have had Deta batteries which seem to last well as well.

The Hawker batteries that Finglonga mentions are not direct replacements. They are more compact designs and longer lasting (and a hell fo a lot more expensive). As such you effectively can fit in a larger battery into the same physical space.

I got Varta batteries in my NSR, SV and CBR, work brilliantly can leave them for weeks without starting and they hold their charge.

Used to use Yuasa but now having the Varta ones i'm not going back to the Yusas ones.

When I needed a new battery for the hayabusa my local garage wanted me to get a Varta. They said that people who came in with big twins liked them but I had never heard of them! They seemed pretty expensive but in the end I got a Yuasa from an online store that was originally meant for a Pan as reccomended by the lad sover at UKbusas. The bikes been sat for over two months for one reaosn or anoother and it still started last week, never really had that with my other bikes.

I had to buy a new battery for my R6 last year and I bought a Varta in the end. It was a really good price for a decent quality battery.

Got a Varta on my ZX6R - more than happy with it. Left it standing on my bike for 2 months last autumn/winter (oct -> dec) without cranking the bike and it still turned. I think i bought mine from MDS and they did a next day delivery too. Some random salesman tried to say to me that Varta and Yuasa were the same company

Had to buy a new battery for the Hornet over a year ago.

Bike hadn't been touched since my accident in April. But the little fucker still would power the lights, indicators and try and start the FUBARed engine all at once

I think they're good and it's what I got from my local Honda bike shop

Varta are OEM for the VAG Group or certainly are on my '02 TT.

My only fact relating to Varta batteries! The question is, is it sad that I have a fact relating to Varta batteries!

Well, theres always one, I bought a Varta at the back end of May for the B12 and its now Fubar (despite regular use and the bike being fine). I bought it over tinternet, the supplier tried to be helpful but taking a battery back to a local place for exchange was never going to end well. Replaced it with a locally sourced GS.
