This is the K1 Busa I saved from the scrap yard, I bought it as a CAT C damaged salvage and with a lot of time, elbow grease and help finding parts from folks on various websites she's been stripped to every last nut and bolt and now she's finally finished ........ well as near as a dammit, it needs the seat recovering, some new tyres and an MOT Wink in all it's come in under £3K

And before you ask it's ALL my own work , even the paint so be kind Laughing

What was wrong with the engine? Surely any frame or engine damage would have been a Cat B not a C ?

Looks like a simple fixer upper from the first pics, just a bit of cosmetic damage...good job on the paint work, better than I could do anyday!! Looks really nice now... I'm just curious why the engine came out Smile

Engine is mint Wink Frame was cracked by the yoke, front forks bent, rad bent, downpipes crushed, speedo bust into a milliom pieces, plastics generally grazed and none matching ? I think the guy who I bought it off had started to get some bit's like the nose which was a new part but then had found the frame damage and gave up.

OMG, that is so sexy! Shocked Loving the paint-job, I'm assuming you chose it because of the similarity to the new 2008 'busa paint-job? Thumbs Up

I used to spray furniture many moons ago and still have access to a booth in my old chaps warehouse. I took my compressor and HVLP gun up there rather than trying to do it in my garage. After rubbing down and repairing it's had 3 coats of medium build celly primer, one coat waterbased red basecoat, one coat water based gold mica then 3 coats of 2 pack clear. Iit took about 4 weekends with all the rubbing down and flatting off between coats. All air dried but the workshop has a big oil fired heater so ran it flat out while spraying which meant the coats were flashing off in around 10 to 15 minutes then just left them a couple of days before the next one with the final laquer being left for a week before bringing it home. I'll now leave it in the garage for a good couple of weeks to harden off before giving it a final cut and polish and applying some venturesheild to keep it nice and tidy;)

More pics here which show the prep and spray work https://www.gixerjunkies.net/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/6686

Yep certainly inspired the colours, the design is basically a Suzuki one.
