i think there may be some rust in the ignition chamber on my bike resulting id difficulty getting the key to turn the lock round, i can get it to turn but usually take a few attemps or even trying my spare keys to do the job.

any one know how to fix this???

spray plenty of wd40 in the lock and turn it on and off a bit. Always works for me. Just make shure that you wipe everything down afterwards so you dont get it everywhere.

Better than WD is a dry lubricant. Get a graphite pencil and reduce the graphite to dust with glass paper or scrape it with a blade. Then work this dry powder into the lock.

Why oh why dose every body say to do this.
Don't thay know that WD40 is a degreaser ? and will remove the lubricant in the lock causing it to seize up fully if not sprayed regularly

On the occasions I've had this happen to me, I drip a few drops of 3-in-1 oil on to each side of the key. I put it in and out of the barrel a couple of times and leave it to soak in, usually overnight. By the morning the barrel is free moving again, and I can clean the key because the oil is now in the barrel. Alternatively you could just drip the oil straight in to the barrel but it's easy to get over-enthusiastic with this method and get oil everywhere. Thumbs Up

WD40, gods gift.

Spray on key, use the red straw to hold open the catch on your barrel, spray in.

Give it 10 quick turns and away you go.

WD40.. Never fails.

Nice advert there Wink

Yes, but the lubricant in the lock will be full off muck causing it to stick. The wd40 removes this, and leaves a film on the parts.

Servisol Switch Cleaner/Lubricant is great for electrical/mechanical dirt/sticking problems, better than WD40 sometimes.
