Will Maxxis tyres cause my death?

Just looking for a cheap set of 16's for my zephyr (it has gpx wheels on it at the moment, dont know what happened to the stock ones but i have fzr wheels to go on it when i get time to make them fit).

Found these on M&P website:

Maxxis C907 Hi-maxx tyres.

They are like 25 quid each for the size i need. I have searched the net for comments on them without any luck, all results seem to suggest it is a Cheng shin C907, is it just a crap tyre or will it do me for a few months?

I've never heard of a tyre being done for murder. As long as you know they aren't the grippiest, you'll be fine. Obviously don't try to get your knee down in the wet or anything...

I had maxxis sportmaxx on my MZ supermoto and they were ok.

That said, some 16" wheeled kawasakis can be fussy with tyre choice. They like bridgestones, BT33 originally which wwere superceded by BT45.

A friend has some 16" Avon roadriders on his RD500 and speaks highly of them.

Maxxis tyres shouldn't cause you a problem. I had them on my Thundercat prior to me changing to the Mille, and I found them to be excellent in all conditions and more confidence inspiring than the previous Conti's i had on. As they sponsor alot of bike racing(off road and on track 600 supersport series) I reckon they also know a thing or two about producing a decent tyre

I personally would spend top dollar on tyres and break pads, tyres will last at least 3k miles (Quickest time I've gone through a rear on the S4) what is the difference of say £50 over 3k (Probably more) miles?

Have a ride on my CCM in dodgy conditions and you might do Razz.

I got a Maxxis Goldspeed front for my CCM. It's a race intermediate block pattern with a road compound. Should warm up quickly and be decent for winter.
First time I crashed on them I put it down to my own stupidity, though I was a bit surprised.
Second time I was braking gently on shell grip with the bike upright in the dry and they still let go. Ok I was on a fairly steep down hill slope and it was cold, but no way they should have let go then - pretty sure a part-worn supercorsa would have held me fine.

Basically, I'm avoiding all their tyres now, though the race compound ones might be a bit better.

The tyre wont kill you. Hitting the tree because they have no grip will though. Not that I'm saying those tyres are bad mind. Cool

Buy the best you can afford, if that's Maxxis then so be it. Only ever had one on the rear, came with the bike. No problem.

Just like the bullet won't kill you because it smashes through your lungs, the drowning as your lungs fill with blood will though. Not that I'm saying getting shot in the chest is bad, mind. Razz
