I can cook pretty well, I just can't be arsed doing the washing up afterwards so I don't bother.
The gf doesn't mind doing the dishes if I cook so I tend to cook if I'm round at hers.
Hardly seems worth cooking for one too. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

When I read the topic I thought there wouldn't be an answer for my situation. 'I'm shit and I've got the scars to prove it.' works well. |

Its what I'm doing at college, what I do most weeknights and generally when I'm at home. I love it.
Always have loved food, making, eating, watching other people enjoy food I've made. S'good.
Money is crap to start with though. Spose its like anything else, you gotta work your way up the ranks. I'm on 6.34 p/h part time at the moment, which is pretty good for my zilch experience in a country pub-cum-resturant. I have a part time job at B+Q where the real money for me atm is though.
I don't like doing desserts. Seems like a waste to me. Favourite dish to make is lasange, 'cause it always turns out slightly differently tasting and looking, best dish I can make is fish pie.

I love cooking for other people and watching them enjoy the food, Somehow it always tastes better when you cook it yourself. I don't do it for a living, However I know where you're coming from when you mention wages.
Most of my mates went into jobs in call centers getting about £2.50 more per hour than I did, And that was great for them for around 3 years..... Now who's laughing.
I'm a firm believer in that if you're going to do something seriously worthwhile, then you're going to sacrifice a few things at the beginning and maybe even lose money for a while. |

I can't cook. I only do the most basic of meals. I think I'm doing well if I grate some cheese and put in on my pasta.
I can however make a wicked lasagne. It just takes me half a day and it's one of those things that I do once every so often and goes well. I should imagine that were I to make it on a more frequent basis, the quality of it would vastly dimish.
My main man however, is, in my opinion, a brilliant chef.
Also, my dad does all the cooking in our house. Whilst most of our meals are fairly simple, he can certainly pull his finger out if he wants to and knock up a very nice dish indeed.
The blinding differences between old-time stereotypes and modern day actualities makes me laugh.
1950's man: Woman! Get back into the kitchen!
2000's man: Step aside... I'll be your chef for this evening. ____________________ The tiger who came for a pint |

MSG or Monosodium Glutamate. Its a chemical flavour enhancer, comes in several forms. Takeaways basically have it mixed in with everything, its what makes the taste so much more well, enhanced from takeaway compared to a microwave or ready prepared meal from supermarkets, they aren't allowed/don't use MSG so much.
If you go to some chinese resturaunts you can have it like salt, as a crystalline powder form, (I had a friend who got sold some MDMA which turned out to be a MSG, the fool). Its essentially a seasoning that just makes the taste of the flavours that are there be more appreciated by stimulating the tastebuds IIRC.
Some people are 'allergic' to it, but its not so much as an allergy as just an intolerance leading to severe discomfort for a few hours. People yap on about it leading to obesity, and asthma, and all other rubbish that everything at some point was to blame for. Its a little unpleasant when you see excessive amounts go into food, same as with anything its something to be enjoyed in moderation
