Hey guys, this is aimed at the Photography bunch. (Obv Brick Wall )

Just wondered if anybody has had any experience with this particular camera bag/case?

https://www.jessops.com/Store/s47603/0/Digital-Bags-and-Cases-and-Housings/Lowepro/Apex-100-AW-(Black)/details.aspx?&comp=n

If not, what bag/case would you recommend? My budget is around £40, and I have a Canon EOS 400D with an 18-55mm lense, and I arent looking to change much of the components atm, so something to carry these and memory cards/charger etc

Thanks Thumbs Up

I've not got any experience with that particular bag, but Lowepro make excellent kit so I'd expect it to be just what you're after. Obviously it's only going to be of use if you definitely only want to carry one (fairly small) lens around with you, though.

Thanks Dom, much appreciated. Im new in the field, and need advice about various makes etc

To be honest, thats all Im looking for, cos I cant afford to change the lense, as Im saving for a Euro-Tour later this year.

If anyone else has any suggestions, they'll be appreciated before I buy it Thumbs Up

Just make sure that's a decent price for it then. Jessops can be shocking.

No experience of that particular bag, but I've used Lowepro and Tamrac bags and been impressed with both.

Can't go wrong with LoPro, used them and the quality is second to none. As said shop around as Jessops can be expensive . .

got a couple of lowepro bags but not that one.
i try not to buy small ones cos you end up filling them really quick then spunking more money on a larger one. look at some of the backpack style or larger shoulder bags IMO.

a crumpler daily might do you a bit better although will cost you a bit more...about £65 in jessops or £45 on ebay.

Ace response, thanks everyone. I think i'll go with this one for now, but Ill shop around a bit. The backpack will be a good idea if I end up taking the photography more seriously (which funds will probably not allow at the moment, alas)

Ill check out the sites listed, cheers again everyone Thumbs Up

Annother vote for Lowepro. If you get the "AW" (all weather) version of whichever bag you are looking at then it comes with a fold out rain cover to keep your kit dry.

BTW, jessops can sometimes be OK and there are usually tons of voucher codes to make it cheaper, do check arround for to see what other people are selling it for first.
https://www.vouchercodes.com/voucherpages/jessops.htm

Other advantage of jessops is you can see it before you buy it so you can get and idea of how big it is.

I used to have a micro trekker AW, however I bought a mini trekker AW as I couldn't fit everything in it. Really good quality bag and is a bit of a tardis as you can get loads of stuff in it as well as be able to fix tripods/monopods to the back of it.

Cool vid I found a while ago:
https://www.mackstyle.net/minitrekker.mov

I can apreciate that its slightly more than your budget, but if your into your photography then you will end up like me, ie having to upgrade when the smaller bag doesn't fit all your kit in anymore. I also have a TLZ 2 bag that holds the camera and a small/medium zoom lens and a few batteries and filters etc, much smaller and ideal if you just want the one (small) lens out with you. They do this bag in several sizes depending on what kind of zoom lens you have.

Dave

Hi

Another vote for Lowepro stuff.

Although if you are after a small bag then have a quick glance in some of the magazines. I landed up getting a small Lowepro SLR bag free with a magazine subscription last year.

All the best

Keith

Awesome, it must be my instinctive flair for knowing what good makes are Wink

It does look pretty high quality on the site. Good to know they get votes from the public like Thumbs Up

I think I'll go for the lowepro Smile Just gonna shop around now - *shock/horror* might actually get off my arse at somepoint and go and physically look at one!
