yes, im afraid it's very true. The men in white coats at honda could have spent their precious yen better by giving the nsr 125 a much needed styling revamp. Especially on the rear end.

so do u suggest i buy a NEW bike and have it derestricted or shoulde i get a second had one? the only reason i dont want a second hand one is that im worried that it may not have been treated well or badly ran in. is there anyway to find out if the bike has been run in proper or anything else i should look out for?

In response to this annoying fact i spoke to honda UK this morning (a rite lot of help) and their technical department were no help.
"sorry but we just get the bikes from the factory we don't know how they are restricted and don't know how to derestrict them, talk to taffspeed as they may know more"
quite funny that Honda cant tell us where their own bike is restriected. any how I have found a solution, fully derestrict the bike at the usaual spots and then grab an itialan CDI box. duno abt cost. The only problem i could think of if u derestricted the bike n left the CDI would be ignition n jetting probs.
gona look more into it

if you want a brand new nsr you can still get the 2001 nsr from most honda dealers provided they havnt sold out and there have the standard exhaust and carb retrictors ohhh and a new cdi box is about £120

Went to me local Honda Dealer this afternoon to get more answers. Honda aparently doesn't give them info on restrictions on the NSR (saw the paperwork from them) however (in an honest answer) my dealer aint sure but he belives that the 2002 model is not with a CDI restriction but as far as he knows the exhaust and intake manifold restrictors are still in place. (btw where can i nab a slightly older version (possible new) of the NSR CDI??)
im gonna make a post in General Chat to see if anybody else knows somthing.
oh yea this is just background chatter but Honda may invalidate warrenty as far as the engine goes if the bike has been derestricted 'aparently')

in 1994 they redesigned it stuck it in a factory in spain and forgot about it, no design reviews nuthing, on colours which came from its bigbro the cbr6
