Ok, first of all I'd like to make it clear than I don't know much in-depth detail about computers...

How do I tell what type of RAM I have on my computer, DDR1 or DDR2?

I'm looking to upgrade my (very shite) computer by a RAM increase but I'm not sure if I am using DDR1 or DDR2 memory, I would be really greteful if someone could point out to me how I could find out.

Cheers,

Gaz

download this

https://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-143.zip

run it, click on the Memory and SPD tabs, it'll tell you exactly what you have in each slot, and manufacturer, timings, bus speeds etc.

www.crucial.com has a similar scanner tool on its site, or some drop down menus you can go through Thumbs Up

SDRAM

but you need to know the speed of the sticks you've got in now, so you can match them.

why won't it let you save it?

instead of saving it just choose run/open.

Only gives me the choice to save Neutral

Maybe It'll work if I use IE.

EDIT: Still no use. Sad

Will it say on the RAM sticks themselves? If so will have to crack her open and see.

Cheers.

Why worry? If you're looking at upgrading then you want to rip out what's already in there anyway (if the PC is old/shite then the RAM will be too).

Worked for me when I right clicked and "save as" instead of just clicking it.
