As above, My internet seems to have problems, now i think it may be to do with our router, but it never it it on my old pc?

basically, its mostly noticable in Counter strike source (due to net_graph) it runs really well, then the loss and choke will shoot upto 50+ and obviously makes it unplayable, for like 2 seconds, then 15 seconds later it will do it again..

any1 have any ideas? thanks

Jenks.

Could be your router firewall settings.

Virgin is know to have problems when you are gaming, seems they have taken to many people on and don't have the capasity to cope....

Could also be something on the PC that is alsp using the connection at that time. All upgrades turned oof and mail program etc not running in the background.

Allow me to elaborate. Here's a screenshot off my one:

iooi has a good point, vigin (ntl) have never had the best support for gamers, several complaints about WOW connection issues out there.

The only problems i have ever experienced with our 2mb virgin line came after a very heavy download week. 360 games come in at around 6gb so add a few of them up and i ended up in virgins naughty corner.

The line was capped to around a 200kbps line as a punishment for around a week. Further more if your in the top 5% of downloaders in your area you get an instant 50% cap 4pm to 12am. Even today infact watching the progress of a 1.5gb DL at around 4:05 down speeds went from 225kbps to 115kbps on average.

I'm probably making things a little more complicated here, if the problem has come at the same time as the pc switch then probably a setting needs tweeking, but since it's a shared best to ask them if they have been downloading exceptional amounts lately.

Good luck

OK sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but heres a few different ideas. As it changed with the PC I'd say it's not the broadband it is something on the PC. I'd start by making sure you've got things like automatic updates, disk indexing and power management disabled. It might be worth running the task manager while gaming and you may see a service or background app grabbing processer time. Do the usual spyware, adware, AV, Ccleaner stuff, you never know it could be something you've picked up while surfing Wink

Mike Thumbs Up
