DD indemnity and its returned straight away.
He need lose nothing at all.
The bank won't not know who set it up.... as i bet all the details are his.
To be honest he should be held fully liable for this and made to pay the £500 to the charity.

Clarkson is excellent on Top Gear and has made some really interesting Documentarys but he doesn't half make himself look like a pillock at times Laughing

You should read the DD guarrantee, you claim from the bank first who have no option but to return the amount immediately, regardless of what they may try to fob you off with.

Do you have to enter a valid UK address into the system?

Seems a bit SS to me.

Hi

Don't know, but quite possibly. But it isn't like secret santa; you don't have to buy them a present.

All the best

Your is a slightly diffrent situation.
You could ask the bank to return it, under the DD imdemdity, but that then leaves you open to BG chasing you for non payment. Which is why your bank maybe reluctant to return it. Also as you have been happly paying this for a long time the bank will not want to get involved in a tit for tat scrap between you and BG.

Did BG say they has sent you a letter as they usually do, i assume that you are on a monthly DD and its balanced over the year. If you have underpaid for the last year then they will UP the payments to recoup the shortfall.

You need to talk to BG, not easy i know and explain that the new payment is causing a problem and can it be lowered. If you could pay the shortfall in a lump sum, that would bring the monthly payments down.

Funny you should say that I once had a DD drawing money from my account for a life assurance policy I never signed or gave the go ahead for. I got my money back but my bank (LLOYDS TSB) refused to explain to me why/how it happened. Could it be they thought because it was another bank that drew the money it must have been ok?

Could have been a simple typo by someone, bank or Co asking for runds. Happens from time to time when entering long account no.
Or was set up on purpose by someone else.

One good reason to check your accounts on at the very least on monthly basis and every week/day is better.

TO be fair his misplaced effort did a lot to show just how fucked up the Government was misplacing everyone's bank details.

I truly despise the UK government in its present form.

Trouble is them disks have never surfaced, and may never will.

Could be someone never actually copied the disks and is covering up their error....

All you need worry about is that, that type of fraud is the easist to recover your money on.
