Got a set of front and rear stands for christmas. Have used rear stands before so not worried about that. Its the front one that scares me, I have put the bike on it once, however, it doesn't look very safe when on it. Anybody tell me the correct way of fitting the front stand, or even a picture of it on properly. Just fear that I may be doing it wrong.

If the front ones have two bars on each side, you're supposed to cradle the bottom of the forks between them. Yes, they appear a bit 'wobbly' but the weight keeps everything reasonably solid.

one of the pegs sits under the base of the fork and the other sits just behind the base of the fork.

Gravity keeps everything in place. You MUST use it with a rear stand or it will fall off.

Are you using it with a rear stand?

You should always use front stands with a rear stand on first.

I have a front stand like that - not the best design IMO, is very susceptible to having the forks 'steer' and upset the stand. The pins often move when you lift it up, and you have to pull them round so they are under the forks properly after you have lifted it.

Its generally a nervous procedure. Definitely going to get an ABBA stand, or headstock paddock stand in the near future...

Because you are a chronic wanker so it aided in increasing your bone density! Laughing neat eh!

Often, another person to give you a hand would work wonders. Mate at uni ALWAYS used to call me up whenever he needed to use the stands because he needed somebody to stabilise the bike.. even for checking his oil!!! OMG!

Didn't colin1 once say that if you couldn't use paddock stands by yourself you are a rubbish biker. Your mate must be a cretin Titz.

I could get the Hornet on a stand on my own, the mille's much harder though.

I can get the R6 on the stand by myself (although I did drop it once, into the car door Mad ) - it just takes a little practice.
Of course if you're got no friends, then that helps to speed the learning process!
