Welcome to RoadVelocity.co.uk, the place to chat and share videos of suped up cars and bikes. Take a minuite to Register and you will have access to the Forums and the Videos page where you can watch and add videos of cars, bikes, crashes and funnies!

Why do I have to register, why can't I read what's on there and make a judgement as to whether to join? I do hate the fact that everyone wants your details for marketing and spam these days. Thumbs Down

Members help a site's rating, and if they intend to sell ad space, as most sites do, this will help them.

Besides if you wiew a site (AND YOU DID JOIN THIS ONE)and if you like a site. Why would you not join?

If they sent you an email advertising something, it's only a click to delete the email.

You 'found' this site did you? Cos I smell a Joomla administrator here trying to get a little bit of traffic and a few users......

Not that there's anything wrong with a bit of 'marketing' your website, I'm just saying be honest..... You've registered here and posted twice (not including your response here) both times linking this 'site you found') Rolling Eyes

And finish the site off, it's still got the default Joomla favicon. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Well, they should make a good site that you can view freely, then people will want to join it. People are much less likely to join if they can not view what they are joining.
To guests, this suggests the site admin doesn't really understand what they are doing and the site is unlikely to expand, so is somewhere best avoided.
For the record, I do not believe membership numbers particularly help a site's ranking. Being a useful site does that mostly. If they did, people would just stick a high number infront of the rear membership number, or start with the first member as actually being 1000001 or something.
What DOES hurt a site's ranking is having it membership only, so spiders can't get access to it. Another hint that the site admin has no clue about it.

Because they might send me an email advertising something?
It may be one click to delete, but when you've joined 49 other sites all doing the same.
This site is, as I'm sure you will have seen, mostly free to view before you join. This way you can easily asses if it's worth joining first.

If this were the case, which it his posts suggest isn't ( Razz ) then there definitely is something 'wrong' with advertising like this - it creates hostility towards your sites. There are some good guides around on how to get more members on your forum - this sort of thing is always discouraged.

Spot on G I was a guest on this site a long time before I felt the urge to register, and when I did register it was a while longer before I posted, but I think you got his ticket punched. Thumbs Up

^^ Spose mate
but if you made a site and you put alot of work in i suppose youd say it was the best thing ever wouldnt you, its just biggin it up, more community on a site, more money from adverts, more features, better site.

I just gave a simple suggestion, you never know one day, you mite think that kind of remark about a site as such, and it may surprise you alot never know!
