my yamaha sr 125 has been sat in the shed for far too long.it's been advertised in the local paper a few weeks running but hasnt had much interest.

bikes details:

1995 Yamaha SR125
Green
25k miles
Taxed and mot'd til april
good condition

I think I've covered the essential points there.

I listed it as £550 (with the expectation of someone wanting to knock it down a bit)

What should I be asking for this bike??

Thanks

yeah thats what I thought. I bought it for around £550 and I know 125s hold their value well.it also has a more recent back tyre on it. its no worse off than when I bought it except for a few thousand extra miles......oh and a broken steering lock Sad

It looks like a good, clean example. If I WERE interested I'd give you £550 for it, but I'm not.

You might have better luck selling it in the summer. If you do, look in to winterizing your motorcycle (type it in to google).

yeah its in pretty good nick really.and i cant fault it as a first bike.
maybe I should just keep advertising it until I find someone who is interested.

thanks.I'll look into "winterizing"

If you keep advertising it and get no interest you are losing money in advertising fees so then you may only get £450 if they hagle aswell.
Advertise it for a little less and see if you get anymore interest.
If it depreciates by £100 over the time you have owned it that's not bad.

well ive got an sr125 and am in the process of selling it to a mate for £350 ...its k reg, 18000 miles black and is in acceptable condition.

personally i wouldnt pay more than 450 for it but thats just me and there are plenty of people that will buy one for over the odds

put it in the add for 550 but expect a little closer to 450 for it Thumbs Up

Wait for the summer when a load of people will see the sun, see the bikes having fun while they are in their stuffy cars. Thats when demand pops up and you get a better price.

Right now there aren't many potential beginners driving around thinking "phoar.. I would REALLY love a bike right now!"

My friend bought a yamaha SR125, exactly like yours, last year in the summer. tax and mot had just ran out, but the bike was in good condition to pass its mot. My friend bought it for £300

I had my CLR up for sale, no interest at all. Its in good nick with a few extras.

I'm going to wait until the weather improves, definitely not the time of year for bike sales... As has been mentioned, bigger bikes might go ok but 125's 9/10 will be bought by a new rider, who's going to to want to start riding in this soupy weather.

Thumbs Up

Oh aye, it looks clean. I'd have paid £550 but haggled you down to £500.
