Performance upgrades, where?

Ok so after researching parts for the VFr i plan to get all i can seem to find is asthetics, I mean lights, mirrors, fairings, bar ends, bobbins, pretty shiney thing!

Now fair enough i can get a new exhaust but this has to wait, i'm after proper performance upgrades.

I have done alot of downhill cycling in my time and with riding a supersport style bike i want to encorporate a bit more performance into bikes.

I have a few things im looking for including, front and rear suspension (i think i want the marzzochi forks Thumbs Up ) and a set of brakes.

If my budget was to be unlimited what bits would you put on?

Yes true, however the main aim was to have a very high value bike of which could be sold on at profit. whether or not this would be achieved is a different matter.

If your after keeping the bike do what you want with it, but if you plan on selling it on then dont do anything to it and get shut.
Fit a K&N airfilter an a 400 race exhaust then have it jetted, that will give you more power. As for suspension, find a model that has had USD's and retro fit them, like i'm doing but they arnt USD's.

Unless someone paid you a large amount to take the VFR away in the first place you are not going to make a profit. Throwing money at a bike means most of it is lost for ever.

Way to make power properly is a full tune of the engine by someone who knows what they are doing. Likely to cost more than the value of a VFR400.

Throwing a lot of money on performance parts will not increase the value above what you spend.
In fact it limits the market for the bike. Many just want a bog std bike thats no hassel to insure.

So you buy a bike and throw a couple of grands worth of bits on it, do you think you can sell it for enough to cover all the parts and the basic price of the bike.
A dealer wont be prepared to pay extra. So you are limited to private buyers.

The others are correct in that the money will largely be lost when resale value comes into it. Buyers of it (myself included) will not like a machine that has had its engine modified. A report on what has been done to it and by whom (a big name in the VFR tuning biz is Tony Scott) would help those clued up on the things feel better.

If however you dont plan on selling your VFR and you love her that much, I understand! They are sexy little bikes, I own one Mr. Green. Now it seems you can go as mad or as conservatively as you like performancewise, including a 444cc big bore kit Shocked. But be prepared to empty your wallet for that sorta thing.
