ey up chaps. Thumbs Up

Sometimes even though I'm leaning the cibber feels like it wants to carry straight on. This can get quite worrying especially on tight bends. I know not to touch the brakes but I do back off the throttle and then I have to 'nurse' it though the corner because I've lost momentum.

Any advice? I've got 2CTs and they're in good condition, so it's not them.

ta.

Had that sensation on my bike - 97 ZX6R so roughly same vintage as yours. Same description/symptoms of the problems. Unwillingness to steer despite leaning.

My best suggestion is check the head bearings! Something commonly overlooked. Sort that out first before you fettle with the suspension, because it may just mask a more serious problem.

Got the bearings sorted and the handling was transformed. Using BT020 rear, 014 front. I can now say that it's NOT the tyres!

They are in good condition but what is the pressure like in them? Also dragging the back brake around a corner will tighten your line. Wink

Filled the tyres up today, so I think titz hit it on the head.

Didn't know about the back brake thing though!

Betcha you're glad to find out now than after you've had an accident! MOT man claimed that my bike lowsided due to a combination of the diesel (easier to blame) but more than likely that the headbearings were knackered.

I guess not too many people KNOW how to check or have the convenience of a mate about you to get them replaced. It should be about 100 all in - parts and labour. Unless you want to do it yourself and realised the the bearing has siezed! Wink

Rightyo, got the bike back from the garage this evening. I knew something was up when the man looked at me and shook his head.

Not only were the steering head bearings gone, but I had been riding around with two collapsed front wheel bearings.

Apparently I've either got great riding skills or I'm very lucky not to have lost the front end and had a major crash.

Well, rode it home this evening, in the wet, and it feels like I've got a new bike. It actually goes where you aim it and I'm not having to fight it any more. First nice dry day and I'll be sticking my knee at the tarmac.

Sweet.

aye, you'd be surprised what difference it makes! My mechanic said "BE VERY VERY CAREFUL" It's like riding on new tyres and the front was much much lighter. I cant wait to get the front and rear suspension done! Come spring, hyperpro here we go - It will need a new shock sooner or later and i dont think the fork oil has been changed in a while.
