I recently bought my first bike, leathers and gloves but I am having serious problems finding boots which I can do up. I have tried on approx 30 pairs and had no luck. I am short with size 7 feet but because I workout I have big calves. Has anyone else had this prob? Any ideas guys? Race boots preferably

i know someone who had that sortof problem and he said Alpinestars SMX Plus boots were the best fit.

I also have SMX Plus and do the buckle right up as there seems to be plenty of space there, go to bike shop and try them on!

I have fairly big calves and the Sidi's are great, they are really adjustable

Dunno how big my calves are, but as I take size 11 it aint really a problem. I've got the SMX plus as well and there seems to be a fair bit of space.
It's got an internal lacing system, so the top bit is a bit bigger because your foot is still held inside.

I've got size 10 oxtar evos and I have the opposite problem.

The boots fit my feet okay but they're too big to fit my scrawny calves even round my leathers, i can get most of my hand down the front of the boots while i'm wearing them Embarassed . Can i assume my calves will be less scrawny in the future? Confused

I got the same problem dude, even with my bottoms on there's a bit too much space for my liking. I have to use the very far end on the velcro to make sure it's tight enough. Neutral They must be alright though cuz sometimes they're hard to zip up.

Dunno if anyone else has this problem but after riding for a while, the knee pads in your bottoms drift up your leg, then when you get off your bike... you look and feel a poof. Question Rolling Eyes

Dude, what you do when you get off of your bike is entirely your business! Shocked

I know someone that had a similar problem (unable to get boots to go around the calves), they found a pair from Triumph were the only ones that would fit Confused
Not much help I know, but it's worth a try.

Alpinestars SMX.

I tried them on and they were extremely tight around my calfs (I could hardly do the zips up) but after wearing them frequently around the house, they became supple and now fit perfectly.

Whilst I'm not going to go into a lengthy leg description, my calfs are fairly large (or muscular if the ladies are reading this!) 'cos I do a bit of running and cycling.

All boots are gong to feel tight initially, it's just a question of wearing them in. Happy Shopping!

I have to say that both my father and me suffer from over proportioned calfs (even without extra weight!) and we both independently ended up with the same general purpose triumph boots (sort of a gor tex feeling material large reflective strips on the back, velcro adjusting fastening) but this wont help you if you are looking for some cool red boots with silver nobbles all over! Laughing

Since I started riding for myself several years ago the triumph boots have been my longest and best lasting bit of bike kit.

A lot of times this is problem isnt caused by the fact peoples calves are too big, its that they don't have correct fitting leathers.

If your leathers are too long or too baggy for you they you will have problems getting any boots done up over them. Correct fitting leathers should only come down to the bottom of your calves - not all the way to you ankle!

There are many places that will alter leathers for you if that is the problem!

Hurrah for Rob!

Having short legs I've always had leathers too long for my legs, which in turn caused problems doing up my boots. My Alpinestar SMXs are good, they do fit over my large calves (a genetic trait thanks to my nanny's gene pool), but have fitted infinately better since I had my new leathers which were taken in and shortened a couple of inches... Maybe something worth looking at Jaiden.
