I disagree that Road Fund Licence for motorbikes needs scrapping, what it needs is restructuring as they did for cars c.2001
However as cars constitute the majority of vehicles on the road the DVLA/Gov probably don't think it cost effective to bother with the other vehicle types as it'd cost more in administration.

Maybe thats because you aren't even old enough to ride on the road so you don't realise how frustrating it is having to pay more road tax (Well not for me) than your car even you you put out FAR less emissions.

Laughing NO I'm only joking but I only have to pay £15 a year... so I might actually not fully understand what you are talking about, But is £15 a year really that bad?

engine size, its odd that my petrol guzzling CBR600 which is ridden at high speed everwhere returns oh about 35-45mpg,

my ratty repaired more times been round the earth erm 4 times NTV650 has 48more cc and pays more road tax , yet returns about 62mpg.

NOTE

The CBR has a race can and the NTV zorst has nothing in it to clean the fumes up a bit.

The whole RFT wants scrapping for all vehicles.

Just think no more people avoiding paying it, this was brought up many years ago back in the 70's but the whole biking groups were againt it as they felt it hit harder at bikers as we pay less RFT and on average do more miles than you average car driver. So would end up worse off...

I think back in them days they wanted to add 20p a gallon to the fuel to cover the loss of RFT.
Guess that would equate to around 20p a ltr now.

Never going to happen....... As it makes too much sense...

There's an argument that as I pay road tax for my car then why should I pay again for my bike.

I can only ride one of them at a time, and as I have paid once why again?

If this was adopted and road tax evasion was strictly policed, the Government would see increased tax income and fairness would be portrayed.

'course Stokes aint bothered about tax... the colt is tax free!

Never bothered me with the car either, 1971 Land Rover.

The bike situation really does need sorting out though, it's daft. And as Hetzer says, I can only ride/ drive on of the fleet at once, so why do they all need to be taxed? Bloody stupid country.
