Hi

Probably not. Pay starts at a reasonable level and goes up (unlike the firemen who start at about the same level, but that is pretty much it).

On the other hand don't think they are overpaid so I have sympathy with them not wanting to have their pay rises hammered down.

All the best

Keith

I dunno, are they?
Johnny's new penis-extension aside, I'm wondering what they DO get paid.

Mainly only cos the Esteemed Daughter was chatted up by one this weekend, and having tried talking her into "coming round to his place for coffee and watch DVDs" ... Shocked (which, of course, being a Nicely Brought Up Young Girl, she refused to do) ... he alleges to be too skint to take her out for a drink Rolling Eyes

As if we didn't have enough issues about the possibility of her dating a plod in the first place, with the sort of general company we all keep in this family (!!) ... we now have to worry about whether he has enough money to keep her in the style to which we would prefer she became accustomed. They are paid too much.

For example, why is a newly recruited Police officer on £20,000 per annum. Yet a newly starting nurse is on £19,000?

Im sorry but for a start the entry requirements are considrably higher for nurses, i.e you have to have a brain and go and get either a degree or a Higher Diploma. The work im sorry is alot harder and physically and mentally alot more demanding. I.e looking after terminally ill patients who cant even get up and go to the toilet etc. Whereas, today i saw a police officer, doing a highly demanding job of standing on the pavement outside Elton High school in Bury.

Thats my view, maybe a bit biased as im hoping to enter the nursing profession.

I saw 3 coppers in town on Sunday. Hardly anyone about. I looked at one of them as he was old and I thought some thoughts and he stared at me, the missus and my little boy as if we were pieces of shit. Looked right down his nose at us, how dare we be in his vicinity?

Then, off they ploddy ploddy into the dangerous Sunday afternoon of a deserted market town. God bless those brave boys.

It's a closed shop, so we don't really know what the coppers do or how they work, but I would hazard a guess that we all think they work harder than they actually do.

The other night myself and my girlfriend were out for a ride, so we went to Alexandra Palace for the view and whatnot.

When we arrived, we were directed to park at a certain spot because evidently there was some business conference being held, a low key one mind.

Parked the bike up and we had to walk past a meat wagon full of police just sitting there staring at us, we walked away and went about our business, were also greeted with the same dirty stairs and blatant talking about us by the lot of them in the van, got on the bike, went to start it up, and two of them come over and say,

Cop1:Your license plate is dirty, clean it now or thats a fine
Me: Yes the weather is terrible, you wouldent happen to have a tissue i could use to clean it would you
Cop1: No, Use your gloves, they are leather and waterproof (he assumed this because it was raining)
Me: No i dont think i will be using those
Cop1:Clean it now or its a fine, and where is your tax disc? (it had been stolen a week or so ago)
Me:[walks away and grabs rag out of bin to clean plate] Yes it was stolen yesterday
Cop1:Wheres the tax disc holder
Me:You will have to ask the person that stole it officer.

I cleaned the plate, the girl got on and we left... Both of us loosing the last few crumbs of respect we had for the police.

Woahhhh Woaahhhh WOAHHH. Fookin STOP right there!!!!!

Why the hell am i being brought into this argument??
Just because I got a new toy?? For fucks sake, it was less than my Hayabusa which i sold in May last year....
Had i bought a new Fiesta no fucker would have been bothered, but because it has a name to it people think i'm wedged up...........well NO, i'm not!

For the members of this forum who actually know me they will vouch for me. I have earned everything i have, i also do NOT take things for granted and i look after them.

1) I have NO children

2) I do NOT smoke

3) I do NOT drink

4) I do NOT gamble or bet

5) I do NOT have a wife to tell me not to do things

I'm a single guy with a responsible job and its coming to something when people on here start to doubt the pay i'm on because of my choice of transport... Confused Oh, and that is NOT my house in the pic!!!

HELLKAT: As for your braindead comment I'm gobsmacked. Why do you ride a bike?? Is it to make your TITS look bigger?? NO! Its simply a choice of transport, a choice to be different from the rat race.
Don't put ME in a pigeon hole with others you've had bad experiences with.....not many of you know me.. may have met me but don't KNOW me.

LEAVE ME OUT OF YOUR ARGUMENTS....! thanks

round here cops are used to dealing with heroine addicts breaking into houses and stabbing people with dirty needles
theyre also used to dealing with bike thieves and local scum bags who terrorise the neighbourhood so in my eyes, you can never pay them enough
dont get me wrong, some days you will see them siting there waiting for a bike to ride past as 45mph so they can give em a ticket and 3 points but some days theyre chasing the scum whos just stolen your bike so there is a bit of a balance
i think they deserve to be lazy sometimes
they deserve more than they already get in some areas

Gosh, must be the wrong time of the month for you, I guess.

See this, Johnny.
Its a tongue. And its firmly inside my cheek, at least.
Always has been, usually is.
I cannot speak for the others.

Personally, I liked the car, but as I know even less about cars than I do about bikes (which I do ride to make my tits look bigger, ta) ... then I declined to comment on that thread.

Calm down. Eeek!
LOL, Johnny loses the plot.
*runs from the baton barrage*

Can I go back to looking at erotic art now please?
My bedroom walls are sadly neglected.

Seeing as how we now have your attention, whilst I am gone, perhaps you may be able to best advise me how to deal with a potential new plod boyfriend.

I've suggested just treating him like any other potential new boyfriend, but just not telling him everything about herself and her slightly dodgy but perfectly nice family all at once, does that sound reasonable, ta for the advice in advance xx Smile xx

Eeeeeeeek, gerraloadofhim in a temper.

HELLKAT.... 'SORRY' if i took it wrong Karma

I'm just pissed at people thinking i'm loaded and on the fiddle..

A mate of mine, in another line of work, was investigated by his employers because he attended work in a Lotus Esprit Turbo and the bosses thought he was adjusting the books.
It turned out that his Lotus cost LESS than an Audi A4.

HELLKAT, best way to deal with him is to treat him like a regular guy.. IF however he becomes a smart ass or gets smarmy then kick him into touch. There are 3 types of cop i can identify.

1) Smarmy, arrogant

2) Jobsworth non flexible

3) Easy going, chilled and professional

You'll know within days.

Oh soz, make that '4'..........i'm a bit of all 3 from time to time.

Depends on the nurse. I go to uni where theres a nursing uni/school/college (dunno, all my age and year) and most of em are dumb as a box of dirt. Some are pretty hard working, but seriously, checkout girl dumb.

Also dislike the comparison between firemen and police. Much as i like firemen, it seems most are Fireman/Tiler etc, as they have so many days off. Plus asides from industrial estates, when was the last time you saw a big fire? Even then they dispatch haf a dozen engines and there no risk of harm to people/them, so just sit there with a hose.

Coppers have a distinctly more variable set of jobs, but what with CCTV now i doubt half the shit goes on now as it used to.

I don't think 20k is excessive for a starting wage for plod, considering the inherent dangers of his work, often ostracisation from sections of the public......and the lifetime of suffering from flat feet Shocked
