What do you think of XXXX?

I really rate it...

rate it? rate it how!??

Do you rate it highly?

do you rate it as being something you'd not want to get on your shoe?

To rate something is to give a measurement of quality or 'goodness' (or lack thereof) in your eyes.

to say "i really rate it" is like saying you were...
"travelling at miles an hour"
or
"i'm centimeters tall"

it needs to be quantified!

Exactly the same as "quality".

"It's quality mate, absolute quality"

Yes dear, that could be terrible quality, high quality or anything in between.

Amused me that there was a British Standard on quality. Didn't mean the product was good, just consistant. So if it was consistantly rubbish then fine.

All the best

It's not just me that's driven to distraction then? good good Very Happy

In fact, "absolute quality" is an oxymoron in itself: Quality is, by definition, a qualitative measurement, not a quantative one and so CANNOT be absolute.

Some of those person who live amongst the lower orders North of the border say 'pure quality.' (Occasionally post-fixed with 'mon')

That'll be two words they can string together correctly.

People who claim to be 'super styling' annoy me, not because its grammatically wrong; but because its really wanky.
