It would seem that over the last 12 months good old paypal are turning a bit nasty. my recent experience with them was less then pleasurable.

in short my account was 'hacked' into, money taken directly from my bank account. PayPal notified and return money after a while which is placed into PayPal. Account is limited so i go through all the tedious questions to restore access. PayPal then say i will have to pay a transfer fee to have the money returned back to where it should have been in the first place.

Now they are refusing to remove the limitation on the account based on the fact they still think someone is getting into my account by using a key logger on my machine. I run virus checkers on all machines I use (including one thats only 4weeks old) and all comes back fine. PayPal still insist the account and money remains frozen while the matter is 'reviewed'.

It seems paypal are doing this alot now. It seems when folks have money placed into their accounts and the cash is worth a few bob PayPal freezes your account 'to investigate' why they needed to freeze it. it ranges from 'hacking' to 'the other party being fraudulent'

If you have already removed the money from your account they simply lock your account, place it into arrears and say you owe them this money back or go to court while they 'investigate'

Just google it and you will see what i mean.

Lessons learnt? remove all financial details from PayPal and leave only Credit Cards on there.

This activity only seems to have started over the last 12 months but i'd be very careful, i have still not had the limitation lifted so those buggers still have my money Middle Finger

Paypal are cunts.

My account got limited because my sister (who no longer lived at my mums) registered an account to the same address mine was on. She or her boyfriend decided to rip a couple of people off on ebay, so because her account was 'connected' to mine via the address they froze my account as well, fair enough.

I speak to them, explain the situation, give them my sisters actual address and they say they'll sort it out. I chased them several times since and they've never given me my account back or even bothered to chase my sister for the money she owes them.

its great that they limited my account but they are being bastards about removing the limitation and there always seems to be a reason that its on hold.

just strange how it has started happening over the last 12 months, if you suspend over 100 accounts which have over £1,000 each in them for say 20-40 days that can give you a lot of interest at the bank.. and a lot of money to play about with Shocked

I love PayPal. Bought an engine off eBay a while back, supposedly for an NSR125F but was for an NS125R. Was refunded by PayPal and the lazy/stupid bitch who sold me the engine never came to collect it. Thumbs Up

Paypal aren't regulated the way banks are so they can pretty much do whatever the fuck they want.
If you're smart you can play them at their own game. Which is what I did when I got scammed.
If Paypal take money from your account and threaten you with legal action (which they did me), don't give them a penny.

They CAN NOT take you to court for this.
From a legal standpoint, they have no proof of credit/debt. Ergo- you own them nothing.

In short, paypal is rubbish. I only now use it for "small" transactions.
