im looking at changing my sv650 soon and thinking of getting a late 2004 zx9r....

seen some low miles bikes...2004 models mint on ebay on for around the 3k mark......also thinking of a gixer750 but prefer the later models and the price is a bit too much...

can anyone reccomend the 9r or put anyother bikes in my head.....thinking the more common gixer 600, r6 route may be an option but my heart keeps telling me to go for the ninja...

also considering the sv1000..as i like the curvy 650 i have and the 1000 is a good price for the bike...

thinking 3k max funds.....

you can get a 954 Blade for 3K (just) , but its a bit generic and very similar to other IL4s,

What is this bike going to be used for.
What do you like and dislike about your current bike?

The 9R is more sports toury than sports, but they are solid bikes and pretty rapid, although I think they can warp their disks fairly easily.

I'd say try and stretch to a 954 blade if you have, it's superior in most ways IMO.

like the sv as an alrounder......does everything well enough for me...just fancy changing it...getting something bigger..and a bike thats nicer to look at and admire with a cold beer as the sun goes down after washing it and polishing Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

had a go on an 02 gixer 600 and liked the feel of the IL4 but dont want to have to rev the hell out of it all the time..this is why im thinking about the larger cc...

i want to do some commuting and some short blasts along with some longer rideouts....weekenders maybe....so this is why im thinking the zx9r......been told they are pretty comfortable compared to most of the full on sports models...

also had a quote of about £300 for a ninja...and assumed blade or similar would be a lot more...

Ninjas are dirt cheap to insure compared to the blade because of the name. Blades have always been a hooligan tool, whereas ninjas are commonly ridden by 40 year old virgins!

BUT, i got a quote of 450 for the 9R BUT 510 for the 6R! Statistics play it. I do have a copy of RIDE where they review the ZX9R C/E and they say that the 9R is an accomplished all rounder, cheaper than the blades of the day. BUT the blade is sportier but a bit more complex. There are known issues with the 954 with recalls etc.
