hi all.
i am currently doing a project on my honda cbr 125r.
at the mo, it has a scorpion exhaust silencer, but i an now upgrading the performance.

to start off, a full motad exhaust system thus de-restricting the bike.
a k&n high air flow filter
new larger back sprocket and chain kit
a dynojet kit stage 1
ngk IRIDIUM spark plugs
and other bits and pieces.
its going to be a wee bit faster, now just waiting on the bike comming bk from honda

why? why not just buy a 2 stroke?

all of this will make the bike impossible to sell, and it will be a money drain, and still wont be as fast as a bog standard rs.

and the cbr is not restricted, and all of this wont even make a slight difference. for big power hikes get a big bore kit and a new carb.

such a waste Thumbs Down

The cbrs are not restricted so thats a tad pointless and the k&n will make things worse the larger rear will give you a better acceleration but less top end. Tbh everything you have mentioned will prob make it slower but hey. Rolling Eyes

Damn beaten to it Laughing

i know a guy with every perfomance mode available,

big bore, race carbs, sports zaust, etc.

and the rs still owns it.

why not just spend the money on a 2t? they will be as reliable as cbr moded this much, and a lot quicker. And they look better. AND it will be cheaper in the long run...

I agree with what's been said so far. If you trick a 50cc to go like shit off a shovel cause you're not old enough for a 125, then fine. Been there, done that, loved it. But you already have a 125. Get a faster 125 such as an rs and if you want you can mod that to get to 200 kmh without much trouble. Carb, exhaust, sprocket, big bore kit.

The CBR isnt restricted but iv heard if you change the sprocket it makes 6th gear which is basicaly overdrive and slows you down useful thusssss giving you a better top end + acceleration because youve put a bigger sprocket on Smile

So ive heard Wink

Mate, its your bike, do what you want with it. People tell me to sell/scrap/set fire/crash my 400 because of how bad it is atm, but its my bike.

If you want a 1 off frame from spondon or a turbo charged 125 engine, go for it. Thumbs Up

This is *NOT* a project.

A project bike is where you take a bike that needs fixing and fix it, or you take an existing bike and totally transform it.

What you are doing is taking a year and a half old 125 and turning it into a tarts handbag. It won't make the bike faster, CBR125's aren't tunable.

I'm afraid you'll need to put in a fair bit of effort to match up with some of the projects already on here. Even your average 'bandit streetfighter' project is more worthy than this!

C- must try harder.

So after all that, it'll be a second or so faster to about 55mph. At which point, someone on a totally stock CBR overtakes you, because they can actually reach 60mph with the standard gearing.

I don't like 2T's myself, but if you are trying to go fast on a 12, atleast start with one of the faster 125's. Not one of the leas sporty!

Oh and as said; modifying stuff generally DEVALUES a bike when you come to sell. Other people won't pay for your tartyness!

Should of spent all that cash on passing your test!

I didn't see anything nasty in his post, only the truth that it isn't going to make his bike any faster.

Like others have said, sell it and buy a smoker. Plenty of NSR's around for not a lot of money.

im soon gonna be a owner of a 2008 reg cbr 125 and i dont think there is any point in trying to tune it after all people who buy that bike dont buy it for speed but to not explode after 10k miles like a 2 stroke.

Let me just clear something up CBR 125 the engine is not restricted, it was made to produce what 13/14 bhp, BUT the exaulst IS but by fu~k all to the fact that you might aswell keep it standerd and be proud that its made by hoda. Very Happy

Heres one for upgrading the performance, bollocks to all the bore kits.

Stick a decent set of rubber on it ( Bridgestone BT39's or Michelin Pilot sports) learn that the throttle works both ways. And work on learning how to ride smoothly and corner nice.

Downgearing could increase the top end, from what I have heard top gear on the cbr is basically overdrive. If you can get to the redline in top gear it will lose your top end if you can't it won't.

I read somewhere that the Micron exhaust increases power by 23% on the CBR I will try to find out where I read it.

Edit:-

The link I got it from is dead now, but the quote is there

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=132435&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=23+micron

edit 2:-

According t Microns site you will se about 1 bhp increase Laughing all that extra power and for only £300

I guess 1.5hp is a lot when your only dealing with 10 in the first place.

Looking at that graph, it almost doubles the torque at the bottom end as well Shocked

My 2nd cousin (lawl) has a Scorpion can on his CBR, and i have to say, i was surprised how it sounded. i though i would sound really shit, but it does make it sound like an entirely different, and bigger engine. Surprised

(With baffles removed... But it still isn't loud)
