Just a quick question: I am going to look at a second hand YBR this afternoon, and was wondering if there were any faults to look out for? It's only a couple of years old so there shouldn't be any really, but any tips would be great.

Wasnt any recalls on them as far as i know. Engine only holds 1litre though, So its worth checking its topped up - Seen the results of an XT125 (Same engine) that was ran very low, Pretty nasty.
Other than that i dont know. Check tyres, Chain and sprockets, Steering head bearings, Wheel bearings, Lights (Inc. brakelights)

Yes 1 liter of oil
No known faults as my son bought a new 1 in oct last yr he checked all the 125 out first then went looking then bought, cost about £5 to fill tank the miles to the gallon are pretty good
Check for service history of the bike has it had them all what else has the bike had done what warranty are they going to give you what deal if buying helmet, clothing from them |

apart from they rust to death at almost the same rate as a good (and i use the term loosely) Chinese bike unless you clean em and the standard tyres are made of nylon so handle like a bag of wank, they're ok, bit over engineered for a 125 4t in my opinion (ohc?!?) but they're pretty solid.
i dont doubt for one minute that they come second to a CG in terms of reliability, simplicity and ease of maintenance..
Cheers

Got it My Dad rode it back down from South London (I'm still 16 so would have been a bit dodgey for me to), and said it had a really smooth gearbox as one of the first points. Maybe your gearbox was faulty (or dare I say it abused)?
Thanks for the posts guys ____________________ Full licence from 16/4/08

If it's in neutral and won't go into 1st, pull the clutch in and let it out a few times.
Worked with the one i used on my CBT. But that was rather battered ____________________

Ok having done 7000miles in mine heres my list of what ive found
1) tyres wear out at about 3500miles for me (michelin pilot sportys are brilliant and the backs done 3500miles and still got loads left)
2) wont go into 1st from neutral but if you slip the clutch it will change down. This has only happened once to me.
3) Indicators stop flashing. This was fixed by having a new relay put in which was revised aparently. this happened at about 200 miles in to having the bike.
4) Brake light stopped working. Speedhumps round my estated knocked it out.
5) Atm i havnt had time to clean it and some rust has appeared so im on a mission of getting it off.
In general those problems appeared when the bike was new and done very little miles so after that its been fine. I think ive had about 6500miles of faultless riding from it. its a worth while bike. ____________________ 2005 - 2006:Peugeot jet force 50 TDSI (sold)

basically mate, if you look after it and clean it regularly then it shouldnt do to bad for ya, not the worst bikes on the road but they wont run on neglect like a CG.
Cheers

The CG rusted like hell as well...
Forks, handlebars and the exhaust.
Lasted maybe 3 weeks with no rust, that was from new
Just bought some metal polish from a bike shop and when you wash it give it a good polish up as well.
I washed mine every fine weekend, so worked out at every other one. Kept it in shiny condition
On a bad day it took 30 mins to wash, dry, and polish the CG
And with the YBR i believe you have alloy wheels, so havent got them to fight with to get the rust off.
Have fun on the new bike (when you can ride it)
