I bought a pair of cheapo gloves on ebay, and to waterproof them put some petroleum jelly on them paying particular atention to the seams and let them soak for a while before wiping the excess off. I use this method on my work boots but with ep2 grease and that works well. (I used to get really pissed off when my boots let sewage in on my feet!) Thumbs Up

Vaseline soaked gloves are for wanking with not riding bikes IMHO.

I suppose if you bought a bumper tub of vaseline for *personal use* it's a good tip.
Plenty of better products for the job out there.

Actually I suspect vaseline will not be good for leather at all.

My dad raves about it hes an ex fisherman and put it on his leather rig boots etc to keep them waterproof.

Downside is it does need re-applying and is slightly sticky but nothing will get to your leather as you build up the layers of it. Mr. Green

Nikwax from camping shops, for textile or leather.

As said if they are leather you can't beat dubbin. If they are not leather forget it. Best to buy some waterproof gloves, I have some Gortex ones that are 5 years old scruffy as feck yet will not let a drop of water in.

When I first started riding I decided it was a good idea to spread dubbin all over my gloves to waterproof them. The first time I wiped my visor with my glove to wipe off rain water the dubbin spread all over my visor- couldn't see a thing. I put way too much on. Laughing Goretex hadn't been invented then. Vaseline is an oil based compound.
This will damage latex condoms.

Oil based compounds can also create the perfect habitat for harmful bacteria commonly found in the large intestine.
I would recomend Astrolube or KY gel if you are going to go down/up that road.

I hope this helps. Thumbs Up

I sort of see what your saying, but vas is good for dry lips, feeding them moisture, so isn't it feeding moisture to the leather? come to think of it though I don't even think these gloves are leather, just cheap! So if it does fcuk em up, I won't cry too much, Ill just buy waterproof gloves!loool! Laughing Laughing
