Just out of curiousity, what would the result be of putting one of these:

(for instance), on a C90?

I'd be removing the standard air box first.

I'm not expecting any significant gains in performance, even though the standard box seems to be in a rather silly place for airflow, but would there be any drop? Anything to watch out for, such as water ingress?

It'll sound gruntier, and louder.. whilst you're at it you should slash cut your exhaust Very Happy

As for performance wise, it shouldn't really do anything.. it'll lean out your mixture probably so do a plug chop and see if you keep to change the carb jets.

It won't filter crap out as good as your original airbox did, so make sure its protected from any splash or grit thrown up by your wheels.

Hope that helped.. slightly.

You mean one of these?

It replaced the standard filter:

Got it from www.OOracing.co.uk to match the race system.

I had a little lean problem afterwards that moving the clip on the needle soon sorted out.

I want to put a big foam filter on my Cafe racer project (CG) but i dont know if i should as it will be a hack bike to boot, and i dont want water to be sucked into the engine. Will probably end up putting one on anyway.
I fitted one to the FZR, an air box one not a pod filter and it made a hell lot more of a difference, more power, meaner grunt, more audible induction noise.

Depends on the bike. Pod filters are usually shit - but on a Honda C-machine I can't see it making too much odds being as on field they run OK with no airbox at all. Might need a jetting tweek for extended high speed????? running. Worst case scenario is that it's just as slow and makes more noise.

Off topic but further to lone's post - drop in filters usually have to be blended with some jetting work, but in my experience they usually bring results, ranging from a bit more crispness (GSXR750L/M), to huge power increases (RD350 aircooled).

Think my bike could be doing with some dyno time to be honest, with the filter and exhaust being changed. Could be doing with a nice 400 race pipe rather than an R6 one.
