anybody got a cure for crazed paint?

recently painted a tank two base coats and three clear coats for deep shine.
it has been left to cure and harden now it's been on the bike for nearly a week and the paint has gone crazy looks like small fine cracks in base coat

any body got any idea's

Hi

Suspect repaint time. Probably either put on too thick / too quick, or the paint and one of the other layers have reacted.

Is it the top layer of clear thats crazed ?
If so you might get away with some tcut to remove it, or fine wet and dry.

Please say that you primed the tank 1st........

He said it was the BC that crazed .. & the only place for TCrap is in the nearest trash can..

Why? If the original paint was all one colour & still intact then all it needs is a coat of sealer... & sometimes just hit it with the BC if the original paint & BC are compatible

Did you give the base coats 24 hours to set be for you applied the clear coats Question And did you give a gap of 1 hour be tween each coat Question

A car sprayer once told me you shouldn't let spray paint fully dry before puting the next layer on so that they can stick together properly, Is that crap?

No you should let it dry for 1 hour then give it a key with some wet and dry then applie the next coat of paint

You will need to do it again but do it how iv told you and make shore the panel is clean by using body wipe and a tack cloth.

i use to paint bikes in my spare time and i was tort by a professional painter when I was working in the garage for 2 years so i think i no how to paint mate

Apparenty you were "tort" by some cowboy who didn't know what he was doing. My (car) paint jobs start at 7 1/2 grand, bikes are 250/panel & they are garanteed by PPG & Dupont. How much do you get for yours?
You NEVER sand the colour coats before applying the clear unless you completely fucked up the BC & need to start over.

he wasn’t a cowboy he’s been spraying cars since he was 20 he’s now 50 o and i no how to spray m8 and u do sand the colour yes your right u don’t sand before a clear coat but on the colour coat to more colour u do sand it to make a smove bass then on the last colour coat you leve it 24 hours un less you have a spray booth then thay have inferred heaters in them to half the time of the paint setting.

I do no what im talking about m8 like I said I sprayed bikes in my spare time and was tort by a professional

For 2 years I worked in a garage and most of that time I was in the car body area.

Good fucking grief, So now you ADMIT you were wrong & still argue the fucking point?
The ONLY sanding done on SS paint (between) coats is to remove dust nibs etc, you don't sand the entire bloody car unless you painted it with a roller.

& one more time: on BC/CC, you do NOT sand between the colour coats unless you completely fucked it up. In stead of listening to some old duffer who's breathed in too many paint fumes & talks thru his hat, try actually reading the manufacturers tech sheets.

I must admit to being interested in a "smove bass", do they sell those in pet stores alongside the goldfish etc?

Anyhow, lets see some examples of your work....
Heres one of mine:

& thats gun finish, NO sanding at all from sealer thru BC to CC. I started about 9am & was done by 1pm... & that includes buggering off for lunch waiting for recoat windows... & masking off the stripes etc. 1 coat of epoxy sealer, 2 coats of silver, 2 coats of black & 3 coats of clear.

hi sorry
to start properly the bike was matt black previous owner tube!!
i flatted back the matt black and used it as a primer base coat
then gave it several whacks of 2k black gloss with 20 mins drying time between coats.
i the let that stand for 24 hrs to harden off and flatted back the imperfections. i then gave it several coats of acrylic lacquer with 20 mins dry time between coats( the lacquer was recommended by paint supplier). it then stood in my garage for nearly 6-8 weeks b4 i put it on the bike only after it went on the bike it started to craze..
