 Posted: 16:58 - 21 Jan 2008 Post subject: How many days did your A2 test take you? |
 |
|
I am going to book my A2 (I think it is A2, it's the one where you are restricted for 2 years to 33bhp) in the next couple of days, and was wondering how many days it took people?
The only riding experience I have is on my CBT (an automatic moped) and I will be doing this test on a geared 125. However, I do feel pretty confident that I will learn on the quicker side of the scale.
I know people will reply saying ask the school to let me go out on a 125 and then they will be able to tell me how many days, but if I was an instructor I would be very tempted to go on the generous side purely for the financial benefit to me (more days training = more profit for school). That sounds dodgey but I'm sure it happens, so would just like to be given a guideline by you guys.
Cheers, Joe ____________________ Full licence from 16/4/08

Rode around on my geared 125 for 18 months, took a half day lesson and sat the test passing it two days later.
If you already have the hang of riding on the open road and can get to grips with the gears. Book a half day lesson and see how you feel.
I was quoted £380 for four days and £520 for five days. The woman in the test centre said that it might be easier to book the test online (schools only have a limited number of slots per week so you'll wait longer, especially for an A2) then call in to book a lesson before hand.
Test £60, lesson £45. Already had the bike and gear - much cheapness.
Remember, you don't have to do a week long course or four days all in one go. You can book one lesson a week until you feel confident to take the test. After that, book it yourself.
Good luck ____________________ Didn't catch anything. |

I did 3 hours training today, got 3 hours booked tomorrow and an hour+test on wednesday (Wish me luck!)
Last time i did 3 hours on a Saturday, then an hour+test on a wednesday. my local test centre likes to do the bike tests on a wednesday, and also they DO NOT do any test at the weekend i have been told. That might just be my local place though, not 100%.
Oh, and ofcourse i failed last time. 3 hour's wasn't *quite* enough.
I think if i had done the 3 hours and then the test the very next day, i might of been ok.
I think the biggest difference, is if you do all your training in one go; Not a bit here, and a bit there.
Do it over 2~3 days without any gaps!
Something else you might want to know;
3 hours training (1 day), pre-hour + test = £150 (First attempt, failed)
6 hours training (2 days), pre-hour + test = £230 (Hoping to nail it this time!) ____________________

I did 3 days + test with no real experience. Passed first time with 3 minors.
You should be able to spread the days over a couple weekends. At least thats what i did. ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

2 days (5 hours per day) and then a couple of hours before the test (which he didn't charge me for as he had a DAS student going anyway). Passed with 2 minors.
Had been riding on my 125 for a bit over a year though! So it was just a case of getting rid of my bad habits and such. Could already U-turn my bike with ease (XR125, better riding position than a CG for learning I reckon.. just costs a bit more). ____________________ :: Honda XR 125 L ('53) => Kawasaki GPZ 500S ('02) => Suzuki SV650S ('00) => Aprilia RSV-R ('51) :: |

8 months on a 50cc scooter, 10 months on my NSR (geared 125) then 2 days training (was told I didn't need it) and then test.
Only reasons I did the training was for confidence, skiving off college, and getting to piss about on a little SR125 for a few days. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.
