In High Wycombe last Monday. Bloody mobile speed camera 500 yards after a GATSO. No warning signs or anything and it was behind another car. Got the NIP this morning. Now I'm not gonna try and weasel out from it all but I seriously don't want the 3 points.

Is there any way, maybe by taking it to court, that I could take the driver/rider awareness course which costs more than the fine but mean I get no points?

The thing that pisses me off the most is that the stupid bitch who turned in front of me and knocked me off with 4 witnesses against her and the police having her down as 100% at fault was given the choice of 3 points for driving without due care and attention and the £60 fine or the driver awareness course which is around the £100 area.

So basically someone who could've caused a lot of damage to me (luckily she didn't) has the choice of points or no points, yet by me doing 35 in a 30 I have to have 3 points and the £60 fine. If I get another 3 points anytime before March in 2009 then I'm banned.

Load of fucking bollocks.

Is there anyway I could try and go for the course rather then the points?

My luck with bikes is failing me this year Crying or Very sad

Oh and the insurance only offered £300 as compensation. We declined and explained what we will be claiming for but we haven't heard anything back. Utter wankers Evil or Very Mad

I believe the warming sign would be counted because of the gatso cameras one.

The warning sign is for the speed camera which you can actually see the camera from when you see the sign, but the van was more than 500 yards away after a set of traffic lights. And there's no signs on the way back. But anyways, I'm not trying to weasel out from being caught. I just want to see if it's possible to do the course rather than get 3 points.

Unlucky fella,

You are going to likely have to chalk this one down to experience,

my guess would be that the "driver awareness" options for speeders would be in only certain areas and perhaps even only for people caught during an allocated period.

Remember, that 5mph you were over the 30 limit there could have been kittens in the road, and as we are all aware speed, alone, is the only cause of any road deaths, anywhere, ever... Im sure someone will be along with some government sponsored statistics any minute to PROVE it to be so...

I would've thought the police would be more interested in more revenue rather than putting 3 points on a license.

So you come on here bitching you have been caught speeding - if there was signs then forget this post - But the speed limit is the speed limit. Why go over it if your going to bitch about points. You were speeding, get over it.

Ive done it in the past, I dont care about bad karma in this post but it needs to be said, If your stupid enough to get points for speeding they hey-presto youve been done.

I speed yes, but I slow well before a gatso and I keep to a slow speed untill I have well and truly passed that gatso, knowing there still could be a cop somewhere close by.

but dont come bitching if you have been caught doing over the speed - why? You know its there just like the rest of us.

'This is not aim at you, its aimed at everyone' Get caught - pay for it - but dont bitch, I do sometimes wonder if Im in a forum full of women Rolling Eyes Laughing

Meh. I'm not bitching about the points, i'm not gonna try and get out of it. What i actually want to do is pay MORE money for the speed awareness course than getting 3 points and only have to be caught once to be banned. Seriously i have taken it on the chin about being caught. I was on my friends bike(i was insured) and he was talking about saying he doesn't know who was riding it. I said no. First thing i said to him when he told me i got caught speeding was 'ah bugger. Only 35? Pfft could do better'

Oh and i can do the speed awareness course. Read the back of the NIP and it said for 30mph roads if you're caught at 35-39 then you can.

What i was bitching about was the woman who nocked me off a year ago, got off far too lightly for my liking and the insurance are being cunts.

I take issue with much of your post Louse but i will focus on that ^

Because everyone is getting screwed over that justifies it and we should all keep quiet and not speak out?... Fuck that, if i get caught doing 5mph over an arbitry speed limit by a trap setup diliberately to generate revenue im not going to apply the lube myself and assume the position...:-0

I don't see how you can consider this as getting fucked over Don.
There is a speed limit set and as such that is the upper limit.
if you don't trust yourself to be able to stay at the limit then stay a few under.
As Lou said I'm not saying I never speed but I also don't get the whinge factor when someone does.
Not taking the piss out of the OP i get he is just asking for alternatives for the penalty and checking his options.

Personally I think it's a good idea to set up the other side of the gatso.
How many of us slow down for one and then continue to speed once past it.
If it wasn't common place then there would be no point for them to do it and no money would be made from it.

If they make a good haul out of it, it's not because theyre money grabbing its because silly twats think the speed limit is only in force where the camera can see them.

Grab a deck of cards and deal with it Very Happy

www.pepipoo.com

Get over there and fill out the NIP wizard and then post the results in the speeding forum.

There may be a mistake on the NIP making it unenforceable.

TBH I thought it was only if you were done by a traffic copper, not by a scamera.

I read the back of the NIP and one of the questions was "I've heard I can attend a speed awareness course rather than get points" or something along the line sof that. You have 74 days to get back to them and it has to be within a certain limit. On a 30mph road it's between 35 and 39 so I'm good with that. So hopefully I should be doing the speed awareness course.

Yup, and if I do get another 3 points then I will most likely be banned and I'll have no way to get to college/work/anywhere. In My village there is no public transport and it's a ten quid taxi to the nearest place that I can get abus/train from. 5 1/2 miles to either Wycombe or Risborough.

Because sometimes that speed limit (that you religiously worship like the scumbag mothers on BRAKE) is set so ridiculously low that even someone with the riding skills of a lobotomised lab-chimp could react to any hazard, and so low that any journey time is hideously impaired by it's implementation. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Well done fucktard, you slow for Gatsos. Do you also slow for every hidden mobile camera that you can't even see? Have some form of extra sensory perception do we? Able to see every hidden camera and react instantly are we?

Just fuck off and leave the righteous indignation to the other web-forums, full of yappy "I know it all" types like yourself and your over-inflated view of speed limits.

If you know how to you can get this reduced as you were only 5 mile over have you taken into account the tyers ( tread type ) the road conditions your speed ometer ( used to allow 10% )

All of the above should reduce your speed it may be still over but worth a try checking these out

Or do the course in any case have known people do them and they learnt some things

Hope this helps

Gah the bad energy in here!

I didn't bitch about getting caught, but I am bitching about the points purely beause I just have to be caught twice doing 35 in a 30 (oooh dangerous. Get me!) and I'm banned, yet someone who doens't look when turning right gets off.

The road I'm talking about can easily be a 40, my driving instructor and my bikign instructor agree. I've ridden on that road pretty much almost every day for the past 3 years and I have yet to see any accidents or any idication or heard of anything happened there.

I tend nto to obey spee dlimits purely for the fact that there's an NSL road that I wouldn't even do 40 of because of parked cars, being o nthe wrong side of the road (no choice unless you want to go over a car), extremely poor visibility and very little time to react.

Now why the fuck in that road you can legally do 60 in yet I wouldn't do over 40 (and my instructors completely agree) yet perfectly safe roads for a 40 or even a straight road which used to be a NSL got demoted to a 40mph limit is beyond me. It pisses me off the lack of attention to road detail. They just seem to think "oh it's near a town so it has to be a 30" and "Ah, it's in the countryside so it's safe to be a 60". What The Fuck?! Look at the fucking roads and THEN decide the speed limit. Absolute tossers.

The speed they got was using radar I presume, so the odo and tyres inaccuracies don't count. It was his actual speed.

Assuming you take into account the odo inaccuracies, his speedo was probably indicating 40ish.

Round my neck of the woods they've been reducing speed limits of straight roads with clear visibility, no obstructions etc. They used to be NSL, two years ago they were reduced to 40 & 50mph zones with cameras set up (truVelos) and associated signage.

It's a joke, I could cruise through there at 80 with no problem. Now, because someone has changed it, there's the scamera there every weekend and we all have to trundle through taking twice as long to get anywhere.

It's about time people got mad about it, it's a disgrace. If you get caught again, you may have to fork out £600 for a new licence. Total scam.
