I bought a Yamaha YBR the other day, but can't ride it for another 6 weeks ish as I'm still 16. How shall I maintain the bike? Its in a dry garage, and is in good condition. Shall I just start it up for a few mins every week or what?

Cheers, Joe

keep tyre pressures good, take battery out and leave it, maybe centre stand it to avoid tyre flat spots.

my CBR sat broken for 2 months no harm done, my NTV sat for 6 months unused and it started up again,

Six weeks is nothing.
Just start it for 5 minutes every other week - or trickle charge it about the same frequency for 2 or 3 hours.

Same as Mick really , My Ariel has been laid up for 6 months at least now, I start it up every few months and take it round the drive making sure all the gears work ect, I started it the other day and all was fine, I spray any of the chrome with WD40 every now and then though. The bike is going to be laid up like this for the next 2 years basicaly , So I wouldn't be panicking about your bike, 6 weeks is nothing.
Just check the tyre pressures and oil level when you get it back out.
Thumbs Up

Also, your bike appears to be in some form of lock up, is this away from your house? If so, I personally would invest in a ground anchor and a decent chain.

6 weeks it'll be fine, trickle charge it maybe, but it doesn't put a huge strain on the battery when starting so it could be ok.

Just make sure you move it around every couple of weeks to stop the tyres getting flat spots.

6 weeks is nothing.

If you're feeling keen, fill the tank to the brim (stops the petrol oxidising and prevents the inside of the tank rusting), take the battery out and put it in the airing cupboard and prop the wheels up off the ground using a chock of wood.

Jamie. Might be an idea to oil the bore if it's going to be laid up for an extended period?

The cheap skate method is to get a sack of stainless nuts , wrap them in plastic and then immerse them in your tank , the old displace petrol method,
