I came upon a revelation in my own mind about why I dislike peds so much. It was half past six in the evening and I had just come back from a 12 hour shift - I had got up at 4am. This is why its probably a bit silly.
Here it is. I like bikes and dislike peds because...
a bike is an engine with a seat, and a ped is a seat with an engine.
Simple innit?
I'd rather have a huge engine which was uncomfy rather than an armchair with a chainsaw motor.
Just thought that I might share that with you all. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

Not many people like peds, but it's cheap and cheerful transport for 16 year olds.
It's a bit like when your 17 and able to drive a car sort of thing but not.
When people turn 16 they think, "I can get a 50cc now" and automatically think, moped. Annoying they might be but as I said they are cheap and easy to use/run.
Buying brand new peds on the other hand is some what stupid in my eyes as you'll only have it for a year and will only lose money on it.
Back to the annoyance part again, yes they're annoying, yes they're comfy with a huge seat. No they're not high performance sports bikes, no they're not got huge engines.
Oh well I think it's everyones passion to hate them, and for others not.
I used to ride the next best thing to a ped, an Aprilia RS50 as some of you know and I knew it wasn't as good as a large engined sports bike but I found it more comfortable than a ped and sort of felt like i was riding a large bike but with the lack of a large engine.
Peds will never be as good as a proper bike but it's just a form of transport for a 16 year old and in some ways an experience to learn the road for upcoming years of riding something bigger.
Sorry for the lecture. LOL ____________________ "Put your hands up motherstickers, this is a f*ck up!" |

TBH mate what else can you really ride at 16, not as if you can get a Daytona at that age . I understand you're argument if you are having a go at the people who deliberately go and buy peds when they could have a bigger bike. ____________________ is that it |

As far as I understand it Marjay isn't having 'a go' at anyone, he is simply stating that he hates peds and has suddenly found a reason for doing so.
Personally I don't mind people who ride peds and fully understand why at 16 years old you would ride one (I had a RD50 myself). The only thing I find annoying is the ped boys who brag to their mates that they can go 60 mph on a SR50 (I doubt the speedos even read that high anyway). ____________________ "Unlike public school you don't need to have your arse up and your head down to go a long way...." |

I have no hatred for ped riders except for the exceptions of the stupid ones who ride round with no lids on and carry passengers on the back with no helmet except a hood for a disguise.
If a ped rider acknowledges me then I acknowlege them back (unless I'm tired) and even pull a wheelie for them from time to time. ____________________ Dean Stone #777
