am i the only person who thought it strange he was charged with murder?

I am in no way saying what he did wasnt tragic but he was obviously acting while in the midst of some insanity. I havent seen the latest reaction from his ex or the media but I believe he will end up committing suicide as i dont think he will be able to live with what he did, all i saw was the terrible sadness of a father unable to mentally comprehend a life without the children he adored, an obvious total mental breakdown and the horrendous results, his wife has already remarried which i find odd so soon after what happened and i believe she may have goaded him in some way prior to his attempted death leap Sad

He was charged with murder, but was found not guilty because of diminished responsibility. Razz Wink Laughing

I can understand the guy, I'm not saying it was ok, but I can understand his desperation.

he did it, i dont believe in letting people off on grounds of diminished responsibility

he was probably a poor snap who snapped after years of abuse from his wife, but he still committed manslaughter at the very least

i think he didnt want to lose his children, and in a wierd fucked up way, he thought it would be better to kill himself and them with him rather than be a weekend dad

very sad but he was in the wrong

when people drink and drive and kill someone, we dont say oh well we cant blame them cos they werent thinking straight

people can look at him and say poor him, hes the victim no punishment can be worse than the punishment hes done to himself

but its not about him, its about the kid he killed, the son he stole from a mother, and the brother he stole from a sister

its not just him who has lost out

he probably suffered a lot to make him flip, but he is still responsible for his actions in my book

I agree to a point, but having witnessed severe depression and manic depression in my friends and family, I have to disagree too.

He's been sentenced to a minimum "sentence" of three years in a secure psychiatric unit. A friend of mine was sent to one a while back after she tried to kill herself and was a danger to her children.

She was released from the secure unit and allowed to go home as long as she "checked in" daily at her local hospital. She's not really spoken much about it which is understandable, but from what she has said, secure psychiatric units aren't exactly a fun time.

I think this guy might have been let off for a crime he commited, but I honestly think he's going to be paying a price for the rest of his life, mentally as well as when he walks down the road and gets pointed at.

Just my (rather long) Penny Coin Penny Coin
