When you have been out in the rain and come back into the dry garage, should you dry the bike? My dad has suggested wiping it down with WD40 which seems quite logical. Are there any other methods of preventing rust/keeping paint and chrome in top nick?

Well not necessarily after rain, but if it's damp and cruddy out I will rinse it when I get back. I then chamois the damp bits and spray the exposed metal with GT85. If it's been particularly salty or shitty out I will give the calipers a shot of brake cleaner to prevent them locking overnight. I think you can be as thorough or as lax as you like after all it's your beast and will respond accordingly. Especially if it's a chinese one... ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

I had done absolutly no cleaning since the day after I got the bike, done quite a lot of miles in the wet and cold, left it out overnight in the wet, snow and stuff.
Pressure washed the crap off yesterday, its shiny today.
Easy.

I use a big one at work that knocks you back if your not ready, takes a minute, ride it 6 miles home on the motorway and lube my chain up.
You girls, lol. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |
