What action should I take when a key has snapped in the lock to the side panel of my bike? Got a spare so thats fine, but how can I extract the end bit?

Cheers, Joe

You can buy key extractors with lock picking sets but it depends where the key has snapped off.

There is one at the bottom of this page.

Lock picking sets seem to have gone up in price. I bought mine for £11 with 11 tools.

Otherwise locksmith.

Keys are normally cut from a copper alloy like brass To prevent breaking through twisting.

You should always keep your keys in good nick anyway.
It should be part of maintenance.
As the key/locks wear it makes it easier for some cnut with a worn key to open the lock.
Using keys which are in good condition will slow down wear.
And prevent them from breaking in the lock.

You could try super glue and a match. but not dollops of the stuff. A gnats mouthfull is all you need.

Is anyone else getting a link to a 15 year olds myspace page with a big aldi sign!?

If it was an advert on something like myspace its probably roaming (So it'd read the work 'lock' on your browser and come up with locksmiths/lockpicking kits to advertise to you) or whatever the techy jargon for that is.
