Just thought I'd let you know that after almost 18 months my bike has now re-surfaced! I got a call from the International Squad at Scotland Yard to say that my bike has been found - in Vilnius, Lithuania! Shocked

The kind policeman started talking to me about recovery and getting 'my' bike back but I reminded him that I got paid out by the insurance company for the bike - however if my helmet, pannier, gloves and cover were still with the bike can they send them back please as they weren't part of the insurance settlement. He took me seriously and would 'make enquiries' to see if they were recovered with the bike!

These Eastern European types, they come over here, steal our jobs, our women and now our bikes! What is the world coming to! Wink

There was something on TV news the other day about tractors going the same way so if they can't spot a tractor, bikes are going to be pretty easy.

Do you know what?

People criticise our police force etc etc, but it is nice to know even outside of our country they are still aware of something like this. I'd be mighty chuffed if my stolen bike was found in a far away land, cause a lot of people in Lithuania would probably turn a blind eye.

That's pretty cool, you should try and get it back just to see what state it's in, try and buy it off the insurance company! Cheap hack if ever I saw one.

Most likely just rode it out.

Proberly taken as a cheap means to get back home. Think no air fair and then sell the bike for the air fair or train back... Jobs a good un. Twisted Evil

Lets just say, euro tunnel train paid for on someone elses card details, fuel paid for again by scamming someone at a atm and lifting their card and taking their cash....

My wife's car turned up 10 days after the burglary. It was being driven by a person who wouldn't normally drive a car and was spotted by a PCO who knew where she lived and got the real police to go & get it. It was pretty wrecked but the insurance repaired it & we got it back. In the boot was bits of my bike and the bike cover!

The Discovery or bits of it was found during a raid at a yard in SE London. As a result of being traced to me the person they arrested got 7 years for handling stolen goods and will be deported back to Nigeria after serving his sentence. He & his gang had been nicking & cutting Mercedes for years.

They caught the guy who broke into my house - as he left a palm print on the window and had my spare bike keys in his pocket. He pleaded guilty but as he was a 'career' criminal he got 4 years, last year. He'll be out in the Summer!

Apparently someone got arrested in Lithuania and is being held in custody there....I've heard the police there aren't as pleasant as the ones here so he's probably had two buckets of sh*t kicked out of him.

I did think of that but to get a bike back from Lithuania I imagine is not going to be cheap!! I could always put it in the Lithuanian equivalent of gumtree or craigslist and swop it for a herd of cows, a family of gypsies or 30 acres of downtown Vilnius!

Hi mate, I`v just read the whole of your other thread and i`m reall glad you`v got your stuff sorted.

Would it be out of the question to ride her back? I assume she`s still in one peice?

I don`t quite know how far lithuania is away, but if you and a mate could get a ine way flight there, it would take more that a couple of light days riding.

Dunno how docs/borders/insurance would work...

Ooops Wink

If I had a bike stolen and then recovered like above dunno if I'd feel 100% right about having it back. Would always think that the bike had a bad vibe to it from the scumbags having their grubby mitts on it.

Still, at least they found most of them that nicked your stuff. Shame that you can't get compensation from the pricks for all the hassle they put you through.

Most household insurance has some sort of legal fees cover - and as we had a perp I rang the firm to try and get them to sue him for uninsured losses, expenses and damages - as hard as I tried p and I did try hard, niether the insurance firm or their panel of legal firms didn't want to know.
