 |
|
Hi Everyone
I'm new on the forum and thought the best way to let myself in was to put a few pic's of my 2001 suzuki bandit (streetfighter) I put that in bracket's because it's not a full streetfighter, just doing it up in that style.I bought the bike last year after 10 year break from motorcycles due to ill health, which I'm still stuck with but thought bugger it last year I'm not getting any younger at 50.Anyway I bought the bandit to let myself back in steadily and then went into a second childhood and started to buy all the sporty looking bits for it and myself (they cant see how old you are with a dark visor) and this is how it looks so far |

Looks okay. In my opinion, tho, a streetfighter is a sportsbike that's been modified to work without the fairing. Putting twin lights, a loud can and a seat unit on an already naked bike doesn't make it a 'streetfighter' in my eyes.. just a modified Bandit.
Good work tho, what you have done is tidy and well put together

looks clean mate. as said before, its a tarted up bandit, not a streetfighter!
There is plenty you can do to the bandits, so keep up the good work!

Hi Shaane Thanks for your reply
Yeh I would like to get hold of one of those braced swinging arms I think they are called mechamex they look real cool and improve the handling. I have just had a wolf can which had a bit of damage cut down into one of these stubby race cans, my mate who made the rad cover cut it down to half the length and made me a baffle for it because I reckon it may be a bit louder than the akrapovic.
I had a bargain when I bought that akrapovic can off the brother in law,he let me have that and a pair of sidi boots in red with all the braces on them for £50 ( I thought it was my birthday).
I would also like to get a under seat tray to tidy up the back end and a belly pan in red to match. Ive put a pic of that stubby can we made, its only about 12" long on this page, it would be real nice to put that straight off the collector box. I will let you know how it sounds when I get it on the bike. |

Hi Quacker Boy
Are you into kites just saw your avatar. I'm into them as well.
Back to bikes: I had my Akrapovic off a R6 yamaha and put in a small sleeve to make it fit.If you get one you can quite easily make them fit your link pipe. Lots of the pipes are similar sizes its just getting one near to what you want.
Good Idea about the grab rail I will try it off. Also got some of those mirrors on order, they look fantastic.

Hey, well done picking a bandit, i've just got one myself as my first bike and it is AMAZING, love it.
Mine is in the streetfighter style, below is a link to an ebay video of it, it carries off the streetfighter look really well IMO, hope you can get some ideas from it:

Hi Beatnck2 and mowgli0929
Thanks for the nice comments on my bike and especially about the catch tank
Had a look at your Bandit mowgli0929 Very NICE!!!!! I love Black bikes and the wheels set it off nice.
Youve got me thinking about changing my wheel colours now because I've got to put some new tyres on so they could end up a different colour in the next few weeks. Also like that can with the twin outlets. When I try that stubby can I will video it and post it on YouTube and put the link on here (should be interesting).
Thanks again

Welcome to the gang I have Bandit 12 and love it. There are a lot of mixed opinions on Bandits but I love them. By far the most comfortable bike I have owned and very quick off the mark. Drop a 14 tooth front sprocket on it if you want to watch the birds in the trees most of the time
Nice looking Bandit you have there, are you going to get the chrome panel infills? They look really nice on the red bikes.
Bandit mania do some excellent parts and have a store on ebay too which you can just email them the part you want and they will source it. I have found it very valuable to know. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Hi 1samarg
Nice to hear from you. I fancy getting a 1200,a mate of mine just sold one with all the goodie's on it.He had a 4 into 2 pipe coming out from under the seat and a single arm swinging arm with a ducati back wheel it looked awsome and was very quick with loads of low down power. It's right what you say about comfort they seem to suit most builds of people and the1200's have that extra grunt low down when you need it.
I will give that ago with the sprockets and have also had a look at Bandit Mania for those covers, they look brill. They have got some nice gear on that site (could spend a fortune) .
Thanks Again
Take Care

If you are interested, the Renthal front sprockets (14 tooth) worked out at 13.15 inc. postage
I used these:
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=360004661341&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=023.
They 'claim' a estimated 7% torque increase through the gears and I dont disbelieve it. The difference in pull and acceleration on mine was very noticeable. By far the cheapest 'mod' I have done for better performance and it hasnt affected the top end
I was looking at the twin pipes but decided to go with D&D racing can in the end. Love the sound ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Nice One !! 1samarg
Thats the same colour as the one my mate had and it looks in good nick on the photo's so it's gonna look brill when youve done even more to it .I also thought about drag bars for mine and ended up putting in slightly lower braced bars in a carbon finish. Swinging arms are nice on the 1200's cos they are ally, yours looks spot on.I was going to ask this chap if he still had his 1200 swinging arm to see if it would go in my 600.I'd love one of those mechamex braced ones but they cost a fortune. I notice you have crash bars as well that is something else I want ( I think my middle name should have been want) Bandits look real classy in that dark maroon and it's great seeing them done up streetfighter style because it is different from the basic reds and blues it shows off any chrome as well. Good idea with the hugger they tidy up the back end a bit and all that stuff looks good in carbon or black,Ive got a hugger on mine off my mate's and it was a bit scratched so I cut it with some cutting paste for car bodies and it came up OK.
keep me posted if you get time on how your getting on with your bandit.
Take Care

Hi MIKEY B
Thanks Mate for your comments
It's right what you say they do a lot of Bandit streetfighters and I suppose you have to start somewere,It gets a bit addictive after a bit I just keep getting different idea's.
Anyway back to your bike: I love that exhaust the way it comes out the side, that was the first thing that caught my eye.Your bike looks the same sort of fighter as mine and in very nice condition you have done more to yours though.I also like that belly pan.I've made a short stubby but have'nt rigged up the link pipe yet. I just love that sort of pipe on streetfighters.I Like the burn out pic I'm gonna do a few of those just before I change the back tyre and get my son to video it (maybe a donut or something to that fashion) just to annoy the neighbours (probably end up in one of their front garden's)
What's your new streetfighter like ? is it finished yet? and have you any pic's? Again that's another bike (GSXR) I like and it probably makes the best streetfighter of them all,so much you can do with them. Keep in touch
Take Care
