im living at home, my dad is disabled, and so is my mum, but not legaly (shes worse Rolling Eyes)
Just got a summons for £115 for council tax, am i the only one that has to pay this? why just me? im confused.

Dad will be registered as disabled so doesnt have to pay, to help costs towards treatment etc.

Mum may well be registered as a full time carer meaning she doesnt have to pay to help with her bills seeing as shes spending her time caring.

You however, are counted as being in full time employment so have to pay the tax.

That or your mum and dad have already paid theirs and thought that seeing as young steveh is all grown up now and is getting money, he can pay his own damn way.

I thought council tax was payable by the houseowner - one bill per household.

Individuals paying was the poll tax wasn't it?

It costs money to halve bin collections, didn't you know Rolling Eyes All those police payrises need paying for too.

Council tax is the responsibility of the homeowner or named tennant, therefore, not you. However if your parents are exempt from council tax (no idea on what exemptions or reductions are available for disabled, benefits etc) then you pay nothing either. However if they do pay council tax but at a reduced rate, and part of this is single occupancy discount then that's not right, as the house isn't soley occupied if you are living there aswell.

Nope not free, the greedy barstewards just take it over 10 months so they can get more interest Evil or Very Mad

I used to pay by standing order over 12 months, they hated that as it confused them no end.

After 2 yrs they called me to say i was a year in arrears, end up was I had overpaid the year before by a year, as they change the ref number every year.

Sherriff of Nottingham rules.

Speak to your POLL TAX office.
You can apply for discounts/exemptions if a means test finds you can qualify.
Make sure all your money is spent every week on bills. HP don't count much BTW.

But do not expect the un-helpfull cunts who work for council offices to help you.... You may be lucky and get a guy who fancies you though Wink

Get some slacks, a cowboy hat, a rocking chair, a chair and most definately a piece of hay / straw in your mouth, put it all together and tell them to come and claim it.

Well...knowing your luck theyll send out their Gay liason officer who happens to have a fetish for cowboys...
