as in jobs?
how much do you earn per hour?
and how did you get there (what training was involved etc)
I feel at a complete brick wall with my shitty job and really need to sort myself out now but don't have a clue what to do. Hoping to get some ideas if anything ____________________ 2012 KTM EXC 250

£150 a week, but im in first year training still...
up to £200 a week on year 2, and up by £50 a year per week after that until my training is finished (4 years).
not to mention the promotional prospects ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

Accountant / Tax expert / Auditor,
P/H not nearly enough (its said I am being paid 35% under market value 9 months ago I was being paid 65% under market value).
However its quite easy to work here , ie I COULD skip job next week (I did actually skip office since this company has 3 offices and work under the wing of a fairly good boss and they gave me a bit more for travel costs of such a move), for up to 40K , BUT they would actually work me for it properly to get value for their money.
Got here by falling into it, I originally graduated years ago in something else, couldn't get a job , went on exodus for a very long time, did some night classes , did about 10 exams , and thought this isn't too bad a career, traveled all over doing jobs to get experience as experience is always key, returned 2 years later fell into a horrible job, year later jumped , 7 months later moved to a difference office.
EDIT
If I hear the words
"well a bloke down the pub told me....."
"my next door neighbour doesn't pay as much tax as me"
I'll scream , especially as you are effectively making over 500K and paying less tax than I am. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. After full time work for 21 years and then 4 years contracting, I've started at the bottom of a different ladder, so am on a graduate wage of 24k, which (depending on how you work it out) is about £13 an hour, or about £340 take home a week.

Wrote my first program (non "Hello World!") in 1979, started getting paid for it in 1983. No formal training other than an introduction to DB2 in 1989, and I put myself through Java Standard Edition and .NET 2.0 (VB, C# & ASP) courses last year out of my own pocket. ____________________ Current: CB500 Previous: CB100N, CB250RS, XJ900F, GT550, GPZ750R/1000RX, AJS M16, R100RT, Enfield Bullet

Mechanical Design Engineer.
Salary - Enough to get by but we always want more, don't we?
Good thing about what I do is the qualification is in most countries skills shortage List so if I wanted to, I could go to Oz or somewhere with pretty ladies - Denmark. Pretty easy to get into and well, we're not going to stop putting up commercial buildings or maintaining the mechanical systems within so any recession rumours don't really phase me.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering and fell into a sponsorship deal with sealed my fate within the building services industry. Would have preferred to get into Finance after the degree as I'm a pleb who will work lots of overtime to get a bigger salary and bonus - Glad I didn't though as my working conditions right now are fantastic and wouldn't want them to change.

I do stuff with WWII aircraft, hotrods & bikes. That stuff includes fabrication, welding, wrenching, painting & sometimes woodbutchery.
Pay depends on who's being billed, "mate rate" is about $40/hr & can go up to $250-$300/hr for people who are a pain in the arse bugging me to work on shit I don't want to work on.... $300/hr generally makes me a bit more agreeable. It's not unkown to hit $10K/day on rare occassions |

Oh dear...
I`m a Grade 13 Fitter at Kwik-fit.
All training was done via the company.
Basic pay is around £750 take home (per month)
but with the help of the SE living allowance and bonus. I take anything from £900 to £1100 a month. (Thats after tax)
I paid £240 tax this month.
Going on an advanced Brakes course soon. Should bump me up to around £1300 take home per month.
Not too bad, I want better though. |

I started of working as a designer whilst studying computer graphics. Got work doing flyers and posters for the student union (to this day, probably the work I am proudest off because it was cool being involved with the student night-life, used to sit there stoned with my mates...."Look what I did").
Left Uni, worked for a marketing firm doing 3D animations and web design, moved to York, by a combination of luck and hard work managed to get a job working on touch screen casino hardware.
Spent four years in the co, designing 3D real time graphics, adverts, website etc before being asked to work in Asia helping set up an Asian division. Its a good job at the minute, I'm under paid but get my expenses back, along side free travel. Have visited Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Manilla in the past 6 months (in fact been to Singapore 3 times, Vietnam 4 times and I fly in and out of Malaysia on a regular basis. Also get flights home for nothing.
At present I have no real boss over me, so its up to me to keep myself on the straight and narrow, but I am a law onto myself at the moment, which is great. As long as I get the work done then everyone is happy. I have some very long days (going 2 days without sleep is not uncommon when a deadline hits home), but the perks far outweigh the negatives. |
