we all get it at least once a day, your at a red light and someone must try and race you.

the other day i had a guy in a mitsibishi shogan which i thought was hilarious.

so me thinking that a huge 4x4 doesnt stand a chance against a bike. i decided to just keep going at his pace, he must had wasted like £10 of petrol, i slowed down as i knew the timing of the lights and he kept going full pelt until he got to the red lights and stuck behind a few cars and i just filtered past and carried on to my college.

i love it when people think a car can beat a bike, ok its possible but your gonna need a really expensive car.

Just because they try and 'race' doesn't mean they think they can beat you. Ok, usually when there isn't other people around, but I've been seen to do 'drag starts' in various vans.

If you forego practicality, you can get plenty of kits cars that would require bike bike rider on a decent bike to still have some skill over just turning the throttle - these can often be picked up second hand for around the price of a new bike. Not many around of course 'cos most people buy fastish cars for other reasons that pure speed.

I wouldn't have even bothered racing a tractor.

I had the best moment every yesterday!! I was approaching red traffic lights, 2 lanes going forward.. on the left hand side is this old granny on the right is a sported 306 full on chavs revving the fuck out of the car at the granny (lol??) So.. I feel for the granny and go in between them both.. look at the 306 driver, give him a quick little wave.

so...

LIGHTS GO GREEN!

I pull off power wheelie and leave the little 306 behind.. Oh my god best feeling i've had in a while.. Bet the granny was like "Wooohooo you go biker!"

MR2 turbos are actually pretty quick. If they are done properly you can push them up to 600bhp! Shocked

The problem then of course is getting the power down, because if you lose the back end you'll spin it. Even if you were going in a straight line! Laughing

I suspect he just wasn't a very good driver, or his car wasn't really tuned. That is the case with most MR2's.

To be fair though, I'm not sure if 600bhp is enough to keep up with a sports 600...

Ha yeah, or indeed a 1000 Razz

I guess the guy wasn't very good.

Either that or he was cautious as to the female in the passenger seat.

Either way - i guess she beat him up for looking a fool! Cool

best one i've had was when i was on L plates on the little 125, some bloke that goes to college was following me in some old shitter, desperately trying to keep up. The funniest bit was when we both caught a red light i could see his girlfriend in the passenger seat yelling at him and smacking him Laughing i bet he got an earful Mr. Green

Some old bint in a knackered Morgan decided to race me off the lights.
It was raining, I opened it up, the back stepped out. I let her win. Of course at the next set of lights I just filtered past her. I don't understand the mentality of some people.

Having said that, I did have a mental race with a suped-up Integra R around Reading, that was cool cos the guy actually good.

Owning the Nova and Saxo boys on my TZR was the most fun, cos they'd give it the beans, not realising that my tiny little bike had 220bhp/tonne.

Some charva boi's in a honda civic last night, Theres some lights near me which lead almost directly onto the dual carriageway. It was about 1130, noone around. I roll up and think damn, I'm normally not heavy enough to make these ones work. So naturally when another vehicle pulled up next to me I was happy. Turned out it was some little boy (think that guy with the vespa who is very angry on here 'we are the mods' guy?) with an exhaust pipe I reckon I could happily fit my foot into.

He looks, points to his mate, then revs loudly. I look over, and then think meh why not. I assume this was quite a large car, cause it didn't sound like it was all pipe, was a nice burble behind it too. I nod and then put visor down, and wait for the lights. I'm not terribly good at dumping the clutch without bringing the front up, so I did it all smooth and slow like a n00b Rolling Eyes but I was still rather ahead of him. Once I got to 3rd I slowed up and looked around, he wasnt too far behind, maybe 2 cars lengths, so down crouch I go, then redline-up-redline til I can no longer see his headlights.

Woot, go me and my internet penis extension.

I had a little play with a nice rs4, I saw him go round the round about then race down the A road, so i gave chase, caught up, all the way to 130 then backed off, a very very fast car indeed.

Just the usual chav boys for me. Being on a 125 4 stroke means anything over 1.6 litre and im going to get battered in straightline races, up to 60 mph im fine, but when the speeds start raising i'm buggered.

Although when it comes to tight twistie roads as opposed to long straight roads, thats where the point of "Its no what you ride/drive" matters its your ability through the bends.

No Mr BMW your car maybe faster in a straightline, but your cornering ability is none existent Razz

I was doing 40mph on a 50mph road. I was overtaken by a Lotus Elise and a people carrier, a focus decided to overtake aswell though as he got level with me an oncoming car came round the corner and he was forced to back off. I understand i was doing 40 but he picked a really shit time to overtake. Muppet.

Anyway.. just up the road was a major roundabout, the Elise and people carrier had to stop to give way and by the time I approached them at the roundabout, it was all clear, so I sailed straight past them. Weee. Mr. Green

I love doing this in town, it was even better on the CG because the CG pulls quite well upto 30/40mph so if you get it rolling as soon as the lights go then you'll often win.

Woah the good feeling! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Of course a few seconds later whoever it was would generally come thundering past at well over the speedlimit, but then thats their licence. Mr. Green

I once beat a chavved up 106 in the TLGP. I guess the 106 was a 1 litre, as I was in a Megane Scenic at the time.

Also yesterday I was riding near Belmont, following another bike (looked like a 600 of some sort) who was doing the speed limit, as was I. Two spastics (a Ford Focus with blacked out windows and a Fiat of some sort) were obviously attempting to race but kept hitting traffic or having to pull in, basically driving like utter muppets.

After a while I think the guy on the bike must have got a bit pissed off, as I saw him pull alongside one of them, look at the driver, the pin the throttle and dissapear into the sunset on the back wheel Very Happy

I managed to get some chap pulled over...

I was at the lights and a guy pulled up in a red calibra. I was minding my own business and he was sitting next to me revving the buggery out of his car, making those silly ppptttiissshhh noises and constantly looking in my direction. I gave in to temptation and revved the D&D up nice and loud.
At this particular point I noticed a panda car pulling up on the opposite side of the road so I backed off the throttle a bit but I leant forward as if I was going for a drag start.
Anyway, long story short - the guy in the calibra was so busy looking at me, the lights, me, the lights he didnt see the cop car.

Lights turn amber and he's off into the sunset. I pulled away normally and let the copper turn round in front of me to go and catch matey up Mr. Green

Casually rode past them both up the road and gave the guy a nod as I went on my merry way.

Only ever had 2. Both Porsches, both in Reading and both on my srad 600.

One of them (for reading punters, the lights on the main dual carriageway from the town centre to the madjeski stadium, the junction halfway along). Think he was in a 911 and I had him up to 100 before I bottled it, I was happy with someone actually trying to keep up with me.

The other was really quite stupid and irresponsible, along london road in reading. Porsche Boxster, lights just before the petrol station and the ones after that too. Was a bit surreal as well, had people whistling/jeering at the side of the road and boy racers commenting on how he nearly had me. Truth was, he nearly did. Feck me that boxster had something special under it's bonnet.

I try not to do it though, it really is fucking stupid in town and out where there's a possibility of someone pulling out.

Had a good one the other night.

There is a mint Camaro SS around here old school muscle in a nice metallic blue.

Was just pratting about with him rolling on and all that.

Got to the main strip in town light went green pinned it and flew down the main part on one wheel his car behind roaring as a v8 does. He was no match for the mighty 1000.

Well I glance left as I fly through an amber light and see blue lights over on the other road, I slow down, next set of lights same thing.

Next set of lights same thing Laughing

Well my road meets with his road in a v then goes into a 4 lane one after.

Well I start speeding up just as I crest the hill he is coming around the V bit and headed up towards us. So I slam on the brakes and knock it down into first and cruise by him, swing it around and head back the way he was coming I fvcking slammed the throttle to the stop Laughing

I was gone, as I was coming back the Camero had been pulled by another car. I just kept on going got home and parked the bike around back. Laughing
