Hi, about a month ago i mentioned a rs250 i saw on a web site that had a 500 engine (actually it was a 570cc Big bore kit) and 4 exhausts, i have found the site now, the bike pumps out 127.36hp, standard with just arrow pipes it had 62.41hp. Alot of difference ay. I would like to get my rs250 like that but looking at his price list i dont think i will be able to afford it. Anyway the site is: https://www.spirant.demon.co.uk/bike/bikeproject.html .Check out those pics

I doubt a 570cc 120+hp RG engine will last that long.

I think you can pick up NS500s pretty cheap (relativly Smile ) now-a-days, 150hp, 110kg anyone?

yeah its been doen to one or two RS250's now, as you can get most of the parts to do to conversion, already made at a price. The RG engine is quite cheap to get hold of, but not to re-buid or tune. A 120bhp RG motor particually if its running at 570cc should still be quite reliable for stroker, as in standard tune they are a strong and quite long lasting motor for a 2stroke! If you look at the Dyno Graph, the engine peaks at no more than 9.5k so it shouldnt be stressed to the limit for regular use. Mark Dent has an RG570, with 145bhp r/w, and 74ft/ib which is a bit more than an R1. His bike weighs about 130kg ish, so thats an evil power/weight ratio!

I think its possible to buy NSR500 V-twins at a price! But if i were going to have a 500cc 2stroke it would have to have 4 pipes, and so its either an RG500 motor, or an RD500 motor, in whatever frame you decide to put it in. My dream machine would probably be an RD500 motor in a TZR250 reverse twin, or V-twin frame, with top spec suspension, brakes, wheels, and a Red Bull or Kenny Roberts paintjob.
