I hate family getting in the way of stuff...
Why do people try and 'drive wedges'?
Pisses me off so much

Basically, starts off really petty... Mum in law calls me every day to see how my oh is doing overseas.
Fine. But every day nothing gets said, nothing changes. I don't speak to oh every day on the phone, same as her
He is on msn to everyone, which she has.
Okay, I overlook that
But the phonecalls start at dinnertimes, (I think she is psychic Laughing

)
So we (kid and I) stop eating each day to take the call). Until one day we ignored it Shocked

Then she rang late on but I was in bed, and she left a message
I forgot to call her back Shocked

So today on msn i get oh.. mum tried to call you today but you didnt answer! Then he forwarded the email she sent him...
'Tried calling her AGAIN... Jo is doing a funny' wtf?
This has been bugging me all night
1. I was home from 2.30 today, 2. no answer machine message left, 3.
No call was made to here
Phone is working I checked
I just don't get it!
Ended with oh and I having a 'disagreement' and finishing convo
Last thing we need

And now I don't want to call her it looks like I am in the wrong and crawling, and also I am furious.... and for oh 'taking her side'

I know it's a bit petty but it has me wound up as these family things do with people

Your OH is partially to blame here. When I got married the order of priorities changed. My wife is the only person I answer to.

Just tell the OH mum to stop calling but be polite. Suck it up and just say 'oo it was all my fault', it solves the problem. Then go book up paint balling to relieve all the anger. Or destroy something... your choice.

well she is used to her regular chats so was surprised to not be answered.

Just explain to her, that you'd prefer not to speak to her every day, and that you will ring her after your oh has called you, and you will fill her in on news of him, to save her ringing everyday and maybe missing you if you are out.

You arent in the wrong. He can stop being a fucking mummys boy, and she can fuck off. You just worry about you and kid, do your own things, dont be bowing down to them. If you're in when she rings, cool, answer, be polite. But she is thick as fuck if she thinks she has the right to complain if you dont answer occasionally, ringing you every day? Tell her to stop being a child. And tell your OH to respect that you cant be expected to talk everyday to her. And tell him he needs his priorities sorting out Thumbs Up
